I was at my local Stihl dealer/Hardware Store today & me & the owner got to talking about olderish Poulans (I went to High School with him).

He took me in the back & showed me his junk saw pile.
After moving some concrete saws I heard Angles singing in the background, then the clouds parted & the Sun shined directly on a PP220!

Only missing the carb & top cover.
I asked him if I could remove the muffler & look @ P/C.
Both were EXC++ (near pristine).
42cc's of Chrome bore goodness!

How much I ask?
$10 he says (even had a 14" bar & chain).
It was put together, I took it apart before photo.

Hoping to get it running for a Deer Camp saw this year (and around the house saw).
Something that won't break my heart if stolen while I'm out hunting.
He had a couple of old Stihls I'm prolly gonna pick up next week also.

A Stihl 009 & 012... $75/both.
Both are Reed Valve saws (I think? 009 is for sure) & have issues but I started the 012 & it runs & oils & he only wants $50 for it (includes bar & 2 chains).
It was hard to start & doesn't take throttle well but will do top rpm if you feather the throttle just right.

I'll be going back FO SHO!
He got pretty busy with customers so I took the Poulan & told him I'll be back.
Just need to make sure both are OEM & not messed with AM parts.

Gut muffler, add about 10 degrees time and it will cut

I'll try that!
I have 2 54cc Craftsman 3.3's ('95 & '96) & they have been SOLID!
Just finished cutting 14 Ricks of wood with one (I've owned 1 for 20 years).

I've had good luck in the dead pile at the Stihl dealer I use .The previous owner figured he can get about 50 bucks for the parts and that's what he sells them for . My best though is a Stihl 200T they thought threw a rod ,it didn't .That one set me back 20 bucks and runs like a top .Come to find out the pin for the brake band came loose and lodged in the balancing hole in the crankshaft and hung it up . Lady luck ,I'll take it .

I reworked one of those Poulans a long time ago and did advance it some .It was pretty snappy but it's on the shelf needing a seal or two I just haven't taken the time to repair it .
