Measured it up today.

Set the piston at TDC and scribed a line on the piston skirt along the bottom of the exhaust port.

I then went to BDC and did the same along the top of the intake port.

.070 will hide 3/4 of the ring stopping it from catching on the top of the intake.

I have .117 before free porting happens so with .070 off the base, I still have .047 before free porting up my sleeve after the base has been machined.

That means only .030 off the squish which sounds more realistic

Got my mandrel for cutting the base made but could not get the jug squared off properly without a long reach dial guage to square up the band.

Will have to buy one and go back another day

You can square it up by moving the tool close to it and using a feeler gauge. Rotate and measure the distance on all 4 corners. Get it equal and clamp it down.
