Yep Dustin, once you get the angle of the file learned, it's just a push or two across the cutter, just like round.

Gains were over a second per cut in the first vids, in small wet poplar cant. So imagine a 30+" round log. What I can't show in a video is how much smoother square cuts. It's like going from a 2 series Husky to a 5 series (antivibe wise).
Maybe even make a Stihl as smooth as a Husky??

I agree is smoother and faster but not much in my case because I suck at square filing! I haven't given it a ton of time though.

I'm terrible about remembering names .A few years a feller from I think Idaho took a few weeks of vacation during fire restrictions and came to one of the Ohio GTG's .He had I think a Silvery grinder on a tripod he ran from a converter on his pick up truck . It didn't take him too long to grind a chain .
I had sent him a bunch of little tiny tooling and stuff for a mini lathe .Poor guy got injured on the job when a sapling smacked him in the face and damned near caved his scull in .

How the fukk is that negative ?, I look at those things as being realistic.

I know it works for certain guys in certain applications, but the scenarios guys try to play out on these forums is borderline retarded.

"Production" does not apply to a guy that cuts firewood recreationally..like I said...to each is own...not to mention a well filed round chain cuts faster than off the roll square anyway, if that matters to you..
You’re right there,I can file a round chain with a $1.25 file in 10 minutes on the tailgate of my truck that will cut as fast or out cut as a lot of square chain that guys use.I’ve done this many times.

I am a production cutter when not running equipment on the wet coast where square is used, you can file a round on a 105 driver on a stump in steep as fast as we can swap one? Here square chain is cheaper then round even by the roll, it’s faster, smoother, and we can run a larger bar on a smaller saw. I will say where ever you are the hay day of hand falling is coming to an end everywhere other then a few draws maybe that involves a jack or two. To me an arborist gets lumped into the casual user, I will say there’s some that are ex cutters and they all still use square daily.

Skeans if you are all that, just throw away the dull chain. It is cheaper and faster where rubber meets road.

As I said...it may apply to your caliber of saw work..

That's great that it's cheaper there, but the points you are making don't apply to a large majority of your audience here...

We can’t be having all of your common sense in these threads. Pretty much all of your points you’ve made in this thread are spot on for the most part and you need to stop it. [emoji16][emoji16].

Ok here’s the other point where I am is an hour from Madsens a place anyone can order from, it may not but I can direct them to the places that offer a good deal to their customers. Lots of guys will buy square cut with it till you need to file it round as well.
