Forgot…got busy…need some .050 shim stock. not sure I want to be stuck with one angle.
being stuck with only one angle would be ok if you made it for the hard wood that you cut the most. it will still cut softer wood really well. but i get it.

that is a good angle for most wood....i would bet that it wont last long in that wood you cut because the top plate angle is too steep or pointed. it will cut soft wood like a banshee though.

im sure it will cut. i just think it will be grabby in his dry euc

It should be fine, it's actually a pretty blunt underside angle. The side plate could have a little less angle but with the underside of the top plate as blunt as it is it shouldn't be grabby.

I ran a square chain all day in clean dry pine and half dried Euc last Saturday. I had had filed it and got the rakers low so it was inconsistent and grabby. But it lasted all day. I think it’s still sharp.

The stuff that is nasty is real nasty cuz it often
has dust or sand in the cracks and pretty much anything is going to dull

That’s being said the wood itself is hard enough that it will roll the edge on a delicate grind or the working corner on full chisel round

Durable ground square is the best balance IMO. Don’t have the patience for semi
