X-cut chain

Still using X cut on my two .325 saws (Husky 440 and Echo 500P) and love it. Sure hope they bring it out in 3/8" at some point, I think my Dolmar 5105 would do great with it.

They already got it in 3/8? C85/83 and S85/83

I got a new 24” loop of x cut this week. I could tell it was sharp just putting it on the bar. Very sharp after a load of wood. Haven’t sharpened it yet.

I think most people are referring to the C83.

EXL, the Husky C83 and it look about identical. I’ve ran both and really didn’t notice much difference, both are smooth and actually cut quite well for off the roll stuff. Oregon is considerably cheaper

If I'm not mistaken about which is what, I disagree. EXL is pretty "blunt" with a pretty vertical hook and a big C shape. C83 has a pretty aggressive hook angle, and compound angle/shape with a vertical side cutter. Almost as if filed with a small diameter file. Stihl is similar.

Those are new unfiled chains? That’s not how I remember the Husky x-cut looking, I coulda swore it looked about identical to EXL but obviously that’s not the case.

Yup. Got some xc to try and ain’t yet. Looks a lot like the stihl. The EXL I got from someone here and looks new but I was confused by the top plate angle not matching the witness mark.

it will last longer if you stay with the angle that its at. the witness mark is pretty steep it will cut good but you chain will last longer the other way.

Does not look like a SP35 tho. It should have the Husqvarna shield on the side. That looks like a H25.

Like this, this is a SP33G tho but they have the same look.
