I just caught myself reminiscing How and why I joined Arborist Site then How and when I ended up here on OPE.
AS was for me I needed answers on my Stihl 056 MAGNUM II then a few months later I was introduced to OPE by Definitive Dave. (First I knew Dave was on AS)
I began thinking that it would be a good thread for members to share what drew them join to OPE.
If you wish to ignore the truth you can embellish as much as your imagination is. able. Don't be surprised with comments you get.

Any Mac specific questions, hit up the McCulloch thread here...one guy here Mark Heimann has a huge knowledge base on Macs and has an even bigger collection (I think the ones in his attic that he hasn't got to yet out number the ones he has out on display in his museum)!

Yes I’ve heard of Mark, believe I looked at one of his restored pro Mac’s on eBay or FB, kind of what really got me on the hunt for an 800/805/850

Something just started to seem off at AS. The “new” forums like “Basket Weaving professionals” and “Hiking Socks Site” being pushed was kinda the ending for me.

I still visit a couple of spots there 🤷🏼‍♂️

I read an OLD thread started by @Mastermind about porting 261s and it pointed here. I lurked for a while and then signed up. I had read a few things here previously but didn’t know the history of it.

It’s more serious here, more accurate with information.

My wife said "No!" to my request for a dog. So, I decided to immerse myself in 2 stroke smoke.

Definitely wouldn't marry if mine didn't absolutely want dogs.
Out of everybody in my entire life, my dog has been there through it all, almost dying, then heartbreak, then all the good times in between. Cannot replace what a loyal doggie can do

Well if my wife would have asked me to get rid of my dog I would have gotten rid of her. But my dog died, and she doesn't want another. Since we share the same house and she is infinitely more valuable to me than any pet could ever be I'll just happily smell 2 stroke smoke and babysit my son's dog from time to time.

Admittedly, I've received more help than I've been able to give. But anyway, this is the Mother Lode of info that you just can't find anywhere else. Folks that enjoy turning their two-month head-scratching and knuckle-abrading odyssey into your two-hour "so that's how it works" project!
