Just picked up a Stihl multi tool yesterday, did not realize they made them. Has socket for bar nuts and the size for the flywheel nut, a T27, Phillips Head, and Two sizes of regular screw driver.

Will be good to leave it in the ATV to have when I don't bring all my tools with me. Add a spare chain, and I'll be set!

Today I took three saws to the jobsite: Stihl 046 Mag, Stihl MS 361, and a Husky 353.

I left my Stihl 026 PRO and Stihl 028 Super at home. Both were so jealous that I decided to take one of them out tomorrow and leave the Husky at home. The Husky performed flawlessly, but the last thing I want is a couple of spoiled brats yelling at me for neglect and lack of attention.

When I cut I bring my truck and tractor. Both MS460's and my 290. Fuel and oil. Lot's of water and food of course. Straps and a phone just in case. Also spare chains and misc tools. Did suck when I couldn't bring the tractor home and off loaded this by hand...alone. lol Felt great! 003 (2).JPG

I paid $30. The TSC tool sounds good, but I haven't seen it yet. Good price.

394, 3120 and for just-in-case my little 137. Mix with the side jug of oil. Toolkit with spare plugs and the Granberg with two files. Taped thumbscrews. Lastly, an extra chain for each saw. Sounds like a lot, but it isn't.

Unless I know I'll have a full tractor trailer full of wood I always go by foot, about 700 meters straight over the fields up a rather steep hill. The tractor way is about 3 kilometer, mostly unpaved roads what makes me arrive as fast or faster by foot.

That been said I rarely take along more than the following:
- 1 saw , fully fueled and with a sharpened chain. Usually my favorite Dolmar PS-6400 which works for everything, felling, bucking, limbing, bush clearing - reliable as a saw can be, never left me hanging. I sometimes take my little 40cc Sachs-Dolmar 108 or my big girl the Dolmar PS-7900 along - but the 108 is no fun (low power) and the PS-7900 is way to thirsty and mean mannered in thinner stuff. 20" B&C setup for PS-6400/7900, 14" for the 108.
- 1 spare chain that 99% of all times never gets used
- 1 round file
- scrench
- 1 liter of bar oil
- 1 liter of fuel for a complete clearing (even the branches get processed involving an ax), or 2 liter of fuel when I expect to just buck big stuff in which case I also take along 2 liter of bar oil
- a cotton cloth
- small ax
- leather gloves
- face shield
- water (usually 2 liter bottle)
- 1 liter thermos with hot milk coffee if it's cold outside (otherwise I don't take it along)
- something simple to eat, an apple or other fruits usually suffice
- mobile phone (is actually always with me)
- TP (one never know when one might feel the need to visit the throne)
- proper footwear and clothes (on myself)
- lighter (I am a non smoker, so this is not a usual accessory for me)
- my 2 aluminum wedges (only when I expect to fell any larger trees, otherwise I don't take them along)

All mentioned fits inside a medium sized backpack and both my hands!

Even when I go with the tractor I don't take along much more, if any. o_O

I am a homeowner firewood hack, as such I don't aim solely for high productivity.
If I cut down a tree I'll process the whole of it making use of even the thin branches.
Same goes when clearing bushes, if it burns it'll come home with me.

Got this little bag at HF and find it very useful. Wedges, pulleys, clasps, tools, file, stump vice, marker, hatchet, tape etc. Plus I like to bring the X27 and timber jack if I think I need it.

Depends on what I have to cut, and how I have to get there. If I have to walk in, will often only take one saw.

I don't drink any alcohol during the day if I am using the saw or shooting. My favorite drink concoction on hot days is 1/4 Cran/Grape, 1/4 OJ, and 1/2 water. Taste good and not too sweet.
Bag pockets look a lot like the pockets on the bucket buddy I use. Perfect for files, scrench, wedges etc. Cool setup Mike.

That is their 12" tool bag, and I have 2 of them and really like em. Also want to get an 18" when they go on sale.

Cut a big 34" Red Oak log all by myself this morning, but then got rained out so I did not take it out of there (don't want to ruin a lawn, I'll wait till it is dry).

Spent more time releasing compressions and moving cut pieces, etc than actually sawing, and it is tough to block things you leverage & move w/o a second person, but I got it done!

In wood this size, the ported 460s really show their worth, especially with the 36" bar. (in the pic w/24' & 36" bars). My 044 with the 28" bar is strong for a 044, but in this size wood the torque of the larger saws really becomes evident. I was also pleased I did not rock any chains in the process.

For this project I was glad I brought a few saws, wedges & splitting axe to send them home, and the timber jack, and I made some wooden "lever bars" on site.
