That is their 12" tool bag, and I have 2 of them and really like em. Also want to get an 18" when they go on sale.

Cut a big 34" Red Oak log all by myself this morning, but then got rained out so I did not take it out of there (don't want to ruin a lawn, I'll wait till it is dry).

Spent more time releasing compressions and moving cut pieces, etc than actually sawing, and it is tough to block things you leverage & move w/o a second person, but I got it done!

In wood this size, the ported 460s really show their worth, especially with the 36" bar. (in the pic w/24' & 36" bars). My 044 with the 28" bar is strong for a 044, but in this size wood the torque of the larger saws really becomes evident. I was also pleased I did not rock any chains in the process.

For this project I was glad I brought a few saws, wedges & splitting axe to send them home, and the timber jack, and I made some wooden "lever bars" on site.
If I was within an hour I would have been there! All you would have to do is say the word. Mike you had a one man GTG or a GTG with you and your saws! Wish I was nearby.

Hey Mike -- see the GTG thread Bill chimed in unfortunately the motorcycle brake version needs work / may be apart etc. and not worth putting back together. Bill is still trying to find the right pump for the hydraulic version. So the short answer is we will not have a dyno at @paragonbuilder Nov 5th GTG. This will give me time to put some more electronics together and be ready for when another mechanical setup is ready to try.

The 044 -- As long as nothing crazy happens I should be able to borrow the saw from the owner and bring it to the GTG. Looking forward to running it / comparing to your excellent selection of saws!

Just dug up some pictures of a few weekend storm clearing efforts I'll share here in a moment.

Funny, I did not get an alert on the GTG thread, will have to go in there. The last five times I went in and checked, there were no new posts and still just 3 of us signed up!

Couple pics of an Ash blowdown from bit of a freak T-storm that came through.
Butt was well over 24" bar on 372 at least 30" plus at base. Rot since it was growing on top of a stonewall abandoned foundation.
Tree rings had this thing 80+ years old easy -- hit nail that was older square nail w/ square head maybe hand forged!
Lancaster, MA goes back to 1600's oldest town in Worcester County, MA. Very old house on the property.

Another yard sizable maple limb about 12"+ at base snapped from same wind storm. Cameo of 372 after all cleaned up.
Tricky getting limb to fall -- very dangerous poll sawed one small branch and whole thing came down trick was avoiding the shed. Went perfect and free wood.

Mike there are 2 threads. One in the events section, and one in the gtg section.

Rot at crotch of a what I thought was maple by the look of the leaf (obvious maple leaf shape) but bark looks maybe different.
Tree is so tall I can't see leaves up close and my eyes are going bad in my old age!

This had been sitting 6 months neighbor of blowdown limb, word got around when I offered to collect the other limb.
Another truckload of free wood. Biggest pieces are out of view behind dead arborvitae it fell on and took out -- almost had 24" bar on 372 buried.
Had this cut up in like 20 mins w/ 372 quick.

Last pic shows what I took with me -- 350 (didn't even start it, backup saw), 372, oil, fuel, bucket w/ "bucket buddy".

It's not done yet (is it ever?), but I made some progress on my wood cutting rigs. Namely, i stuck them together.

rps20161031_104033_286.jpg

This way when I go cut, I can bring everything I need and have a quick way to get home for lunch or other reasons. I also added a hitch to the back of the Jeep so I can pull a hay wagon or small trailer out with me. The Jeep is too wimpy to pull a loaded wagon back, but I can always go back with just the tractor or my pickup depending on where I'm cutting.

Okay, I know I can't just keep adding more units to the train, but I couldn't stop myself.

Now when I go cut, I can bring everything in one trip. :)

I won't pull it home with a load like that, though.
