WHATS YOUR PICK FOR SAWS AROUND 100CC?

Bar looks familiar!

My stock-ish 394 pulls it damn well milling @ about 42/43" (maple).

EDIT: 404 & 8 would not do so well....

Looking to add one final muscle saw to the collection. Have always wanted 3120, never run one. Had 395 years ago and don't recall much about it. Back in my drinking days. Got 075, 2101, 797. Need a saw that will out cut those three. Mostly cut 30"+ lodgepole pine and a little juniper. Went back and watched some of the 394/395 videos. Some mean motor scooters.

In 30" wood it's going to be hard to beat a 395.

395 oiler is way ahead of the 661 oiler if youre going to port it and run a larger gear

Working on joining the 100cc club, been a process, parts aren't the easiest to find for these old girls. Reason for the 2100? More like it chose, me than I chose it. Will have little actual genuine need for a saw this size, an 80cc does everything pretty nice around here. Have a 4 foot dia. log that's going to need bucked up come spring, will it be ready? Is nice to see some folks here throw some respect for these saws, makes me feel better anyways, going forward. Mostly what I have here is what was salvaged from two old landing saws, one crushed the other blown.

Parts are scarce for the 2100/2101s. Damn good saws. Powerheads are hard to find in good shape too. I'm sure they are out there though.

It's been living in and out of a box for about a year now, while I've ever so slowly been gathering parts. Not much left to get now, I can almost smell the 2-stroke oil burning. LOL Thanks for the boost guys. SS

This saw is one of my go to saws, first pics and still a daily work saw. Parts are out there you may have to hunt. My dealer can still get some deals and gaskets etc. I've not had a problem getting what I need which has not been much. These saws rarely break or break down. They take anything you throw at them. I cut 3'4 foot wood and trees on average, and often get into 5 foot and over. Occasional 6-7. Many jobs we have to cut big stumps, rip and quarter rounds, occasionally logs. That 2101 I have had been put through and passed every test. I wouldn't pack it in today's timner, if I was a logger. But for general tree work, big stumps and logs it's one of my best friends. Welcome to the club....

Thanks for the reply, told myself that this saw was going to be for bucking big stuff. Thinking of going with .404 on a 40ish inch bar, but not sure. Have zero experience with big chain. Won't matter much till it starts up and makes some noise, after its final transformation from chicken dung to chicken salad.

Yes it will be a good friend I'm big wood. Your welcome my friend. I have a 34 inc bar on mine right now it keeps it handy, but not to big for everything. If you get a 42inch or so go Cannon. For long bars it's worth a little extra money. I'm not impressed with others in the long side. I run .063 gauge 3/8 full skip. There's still some .404 guys around here, mainly callers. Either will do you good. If I was a cutter probably be .404 for me.

I'm runnin 3/8 on mine too Norm. It has a 37" on it now and it's a bit nose heavy, but not bad.
