Took me a long time, but this baby is now up and going, left to do some real cutting work tomorrow.
346 xpg oe 07 week 15, no gasket, hda 199 carb, full rebuild, I have spend 170$ in total for the saw and parts, cheap I think.
I had in mind to do some of the same porting as I did on an 2147 WH and keep the saw for the collection, but it seems I will swap it for something else on monday, kinda sad to let this 346 oe go.....

yeah, two straight gas scored 550 XPG. I've not seen them, they said one of them only had a few tanks, guess I will see on Monday if it's true or not ;)
Straight Gassed !!! oops. Your hoping to save the cylinders i assume ...unless.. you have a secret source of Cheep OEM parts .;)

if I have to I'll buy oem c&p from US, think it's like 120$ for a set + shipping, I've not checked price in Norway, but I will.
I dont expect to be able to save the jugs but who knows, I've been lucky before.
If those 550 is not as described my 346 OE will stay here, I will probleby never find an 346xpg OE like the one I have again, and I dont want two abused 550's.

Picked this one up today. Will have to give it a good once over. But it starts and runs, so that's a plus.

I got one of those vac/pressure testers also, but have not used it or even taken it out of the box yet.

I cleaned up a scored MS440 jug today using Rany's method (did not have afternoon appointments, and the weather was fairly good). The piston fried (on the exhaust side only) because the Hi screw was only 1/4 turn out. Other than that, the saw looks in pretty good shape, so I don't think there is any need to test it.

Hopefully, all it needs is a new piston. The NKG plug in it looks like it has never fired. It is also missing the metal handle.

Always, Always, Always pressure & vac test it.

I don't have a parts cleaner, so it is a RPITA, but I do the best I can with WD-40, cleaners, Q-Tips and screw drivers (for the gunked on stuff).

They run well when I'm done with em, so that's what matters to me. The inside is always flushed, then some brake cleaner for the surfaces.

Wish I did have a cleaner though, would save a lot of time and be much better.

Have appts this morning & evening, but in the afternoon will finish assembling that MS440 I got running yesterday. Got lucky with that saw. The cylinder cleaned up and it had a new plug, HD-2 filter and gas filter already on it. Not sure if they installed the stuff before the screwed up the tune (Hi was set at 1/4 out) or after. Saw also had a good chain catcher. Nice not to have to replace all that little stuff I usually have to replace! My only costs on this one are a new piston, aluminum handle, and a dp muffler. The saw was very dirty (a lot of grit in the control lever area, etc), but it cleaned up well and looks to be in real nice shape. Plan to bring it to the Upstate NY GTG next Sunday. I also deleted the base gasket (squish is 19) and advanced the timing. Hope it runs strong!
