they can't borrow out auto tune program, it's password system with login to Husky. I guess its because Husky want all information saved in their database. Other thing is that only dealers can buy auto tune program in Norway due same reason.

My JRed dealer is 100% though, I've always been allowed to borrow any service tools through weekends.

I already made a deal with them, all I need is to prepare the saw for fast plugin and they will only take pay for the time it take.
Other dealers take minimum prize, most doesnt plugin without demanding at least 100$ as a starter.

Only one of those 550xpg will be a builder, the other one is ruined, blowned bearings, or crank rod bearing blown...top end has paid the prize.
Pics to come....

The tool can work and without password so you can buy the tool and use it , just try to find the latest edition when you buy theese tools
password have only the dealers if you have good relations with your dealer he will give his password
password you need if the factory make updates to a machine saw, trimer, etc no other reason
the husqy diagnostic and the stihl mdg1 is only tools for informations they cant repair problems

100$ as a starter i will leave the saw for him , here a full rebuild cost about 60 euros so you go to a stihl with a saw in parts and you leave with a full saw for 60 euros

Well here's my finished product. This is the 046 @rattler ported for me. I purchased new orange and black caps off evilbay and added these dawgs from @stihl_head1982 (thanks). Of course the tank and tops i dyed thanks to a thread started by @idiotwithasaw who is now in cad remission. (Not for long I am sure). New b/c from Coopers trading post in burnsville and shes ready to rock and roll. Complete tear down and rebuild on this one so it should be around for a long while. It's my only stihl and I must say i am growing pretty fond of it. Just glad it wasn't the one i cut my leg with.

thanks for the advises, I'll give Husky Norway an call tomorrow and see how difficult they are.
I have several dealers I know, I may be lucky with one of them for password lol
I never followed those Husky 550/560 part prices in Norway but figured out today that it may be the project future. The price for C&P is totally ridicilous 370$, piston is 110$, give them 2 years and I am 100% certain there is gone be lots of projects.

Yeah no risk there. As good as this 046 might run my 385 will make me forget all about it. Ha.

I figured a cylinder for ur 550 would be very pricey. Maybe one will show up and you can get lucky.

I gone make sure you don't swap brand lol I know you plan to get an 550 later, when you are ready there is coming a full xpg set for you.

370$ for 550 c&p kit in Norway, about 40% of what 550 XPG cost new here, far as I have understood the same kit cost 120$ in US.
I think it's great, it's not certain that straight gas scored Huskies get fixed due cost price ;)

I gone call Husky tomorrow, it doesn't make sense that it cost almost 2 times more here compared to where you live. Perhaps they found wrong price

it looks good man. My CAD ain't completely gone but it's gonna take a special saw to bring me back in full force. Been talking to @David Young about a 372 xpw I have and what I can do to it. Maybe this will do the trick.

I predict that ported 046 will become one of your favorite saws, and I like the flat black & orange "Halloween" effect! With a 24" bar, they make an excellent bucking saw for most trees.

It's still in the 'break-in' period right now. I will get a vid of it after I get a few tanks threw it. A friend of mine is clearing some wooded area for a fenced in rabbit habitation and said I could have all the trees except oak and hickory. The best and most plentiful I will get are beech. some locust and maple. So the new to me 046 will get broke in right and used a lot during this job. And yes, I am thankful to live where I do, I guess we all should feel that way.

Could this highlighted portion mean that you are not only my brother, but also you are a RABBIT hunter????
Great day in the morning! It almost sounds too good to be true.

haha. I only hunt rabbits a few times a year and don't have any dogs. My good friend is big into it. Here's one of his videos on his youtube channel. from what I understand his dogs are very good and people drive from all over to buy them. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC0eMshOoyCumdgoOkc7eSXA

One more rabbit video. We were on a hunt in Avery co and a injured rabbit went into its hole which was in a barn. I videoed us fishing it out. And yes we are a bunch of rednecks.

HA! YEAH!
Some things on the internet I cannot identify with. This video, I can :D :aaaaa:

Nothing better than a good race, and great fellowship!

Love these mountains, and being redneck ain't a bad thing. Walking old logging roads toting a shot gun after school was one the best things growing up I wouldn't trade for anything.
