I think if I had a good running 85 jug, I'd just leave it alone, but then again, I like to cut wood, and playin with saws is just part of it. I think you like to play with saws, and cutting wood is just part of it!

Alright, let's sort all this crap out.

1998 Arctic Cat 2X4 with a 454 series engine.
Came in with super high idle. Customer complaining "We didn't fix it right last time it was in" Check history and that was over 1 year ago. lol
Well after adjusting to throttle cable back to where it should be and adjusting the idle it ran fine. Until this one cool morning while I was rowing through the gears at WOT. Suddenly the motor started cutting out and I had no power. Give it throttle and it would run like POPOP POP POP OPO POP. Idled ok, but wouldn't take a throttle. So I figured...ran fine on a Hot day...don't run fine on a cool day. Ignition!!! So after testing I figured it was the CDI box, coil Ohm'd find and the boot did as well. Pull the CDI box off a 2004 400 and put in on the 97 and it ran like a top! Now problems cold or hot! Cool! Figured it out! So I order up the new $680 CDI box...put it on...Boom! Back to the Same problem!!! Went to take off and POW POP POP POP POP POP. I was like WTH!?!? Limped back home...put the CDI box from the 400 back in and it's Fine!!!! By this point I was like WTH!?!?!?!! So, through that to the side and moved onto something else.

2008 Arctic Cat 366 Auto 4X4.
Had been sitting for some time and came in needing the normal fuel system work. Cleaned the carb and flushed the tank. Made sure the oil was to level. Fired it up....ran...took a throttle...idled like Crap. Checked spark and it seemed like it was cutting out...and at RPM seemed the same way. Boss said it looked like the Stator. Checked the OHMs and it was 6.1 over spec. Ordered a new one, slammed that puppy in...fired up and idled decently...but NOW!...Of stink course! I have no top end...which I never did before. So now I am really ticked. lol Checked the carb over and ruled out it was fine. Got ahold of the shop manual and found that the valve adjustment specs I was given were wrong. So I will try an adjustment again and hope for the best.

2015 Polaris 570 Ranger. What a POS!!!!
Already mentioned not long ago what the hell deal is with this thing. All my parts came in today so tomorrow I will be hopefully booting that thing out the door...and making the shop a pretty penny in labor. :firedevil:

Man. You guys are kinda harsh on Polaris. Back in the day when the Foreman was king, I hopped on my uncle's Sportsman 500 to help drag out a deer. The Honda went down the road. Throughout the 90's and 00's, there was no better ride than a Sportsman.
People complain about the belt drive. Mine has 2000 miles on the original belt. If you use low range when it's called for, the belt is a non issue.

What else is there?
The occasional cv boot, cuz you ran a root through it.
Starters go bad because people refuse to buy a $60 battery when they go bad, and crank the motor repeatedly when the battery doesn't have the ass to start it properly.

I've never owned a Cat. I used to work at a dealership that sold Cat and Polaris. On any given day, there were 10 Cat sleds and 4 wheelers to 1 Polaris.
When my Sportsmans were new, we hunted elk in Colorado and used them to drag out our kills. Other quads would get hung up on blowdowns, where the Sportsmans would drag an elk over it without a problem.
Ever think for a second that maybe it's the operator and not the machine?

I do like my 570, has done everything I've expected it to do, and then some.

Fuel injection, engine braking, good suspension & ground clearance, and good towing capacity. Could not find anything else for the price that would match it, and spoke with several people who had good luck with their 500s.

I drove a 570 last year with power steering. That was pretty cool
