Jonsered 630 in and out, had a kinked up bar plate causing an oil leak and lack there of at the bar, plastic guide buttons missing as well. New parts from HL and it's good to go again.

An odd side note about this saw: Was rebuilt a year and a half ago with a Chinese 266 piston and cylinder that has open ports, not closed as original. This saw will absolutely not even come any where close to reaching top RPM as original. Squish with gasket was .050" and was left that way for ease of starting with no decompression valve, especially in winter. When I said I could probably do something to help this situation the owner replied "No way, you can lean on that saw all you want and it wont slow down". So off it went. I guess a good firewood saw is in the eye of the beholder.

Got my 026 back together and it blew 220psi
Kicked it up and it sounds so much smoother. It was fighting its self before with the intake up at 70*
Took it from 97.5/118/70 to 103/123/77
Revs free and damn fast now.
Cant wait to get it in some timber to see how she cuts.
I recon it will go better than before

I just split the filter and it filthy inside.
Its sucking air and fines in the seam where it clips together
I am now dedicated to fitting it with a V Stack and a K&N filter.
I plan to get a 3/4" 90" pipe bend and cut it to the angle I need. Weld on a flange at either end and bobs your uncle

Mac 250 on my bench at present.

Cleaning the Tilly carb, and going to wet the diaphragm to aid it starting it.

Was throwing a mean spark, ran on a prime but I could not get it to draw fuel.

After pulling the carb, tried sucking through fuel line. No fuel came through, hmm check fuel filter again.

Doh!

Stupid me hadn't actually put any mix in the fuel tank.. bleeding idiot...

Thought I should start to go over an old batch Husky 44's I have.
Goal is to make one as a full runner where everything need to work propleby.
The nicest one is from 1985 and hopefully it will be this one, last year with white top cover, they had black front handle, black fuel oil cap.

Spark, started up, but I have to renovate the carb, and it seems there is an fuel leak in the tank, or a hose who is ripped off, has to look closer to find the issue.

Here is some more pictures of the 1985 model, complete.
The other saw is from 1986, first year they came with grey top cover, grey front handle oil cap and fuel cap. My neightbour came with another Husky from the same time area that I should fix for him, will probleby go over this 86 and if it look promising I'll use his saw as donator saw, and give back a full working saw for him.

Tried the Poulan thread, thought I'd try some where else as well. Have this Poulan 306A that fell in my lap, saw is in great shape, but(there's always a but) the piston is scored just enough to cause running issues. I would like to fix this saw for myself as I kinda took a liking to the little feller. The piston is NLA as well as the rings, so is there a possibility of one from some other saw that would work?

Here's the ol' 038 AV Mag II sporting the new bar from @trooney. No chains for it yet, but I believe one of my brothers has a couple of new RS chains for it, which will work out just fine...he's owes me a little jingle anyhow. I'll be phoning him this evening no doubt.

I don't think the 288 will work. Some have used a 660 piston from what I gather. I'm a little bit sceptical about the lil red barn stuff and I've never heard anything good about Golf. So I'm kind of in a hold pattern until I decide what to do. I did find a VEC brand piston on Northwood saw but I'm not familiar with that brand either.

I've used some VEC pistons. Not quite as nice looking as meteor but they work. The crown is very short on the 920 Pistons compared to the other 54mm options.

20160820_202922.jpg 3120xp that I'm gonna be upside down on but I never had one so I couldn't resist. Plastics are a little ugly but the rest is really tight. Just waiting for a few parts to button it up then down the road she goes. I thought maybe I'd keep her but this thing is a giant... way too big for me to justify.
