The Minister at our church gave our teenage group some very good advice. He said if the person you are going to marry is about 20, don't expect them to change for the next 20 years, because that is how long it has taken them to become that way.

Either plan to accept them as they are, or move on!

I have a theory that we marry too late in our culture. We get lonely between family and marriage time and get hard and set in our ways. If we marry younger, when we are still pliable, maybe we will adapt to each other better.

well i did meet her at church in college. i hated city living, so he needed some help splitting firewood, first time i ever used a hydraulic splitter, short of the story he told his 3 girls, that i was sil material.

I know this has nothing to do with milling but i noticed the ash log i was cutting has a huge bulge in it kinda like a burl. Is this worth saving or just cut into firewood. Or mabe mill it lol.
Im not much of a wood worker so cant do much with it but know a few people that are.

Burls can be desirable for sure, I have no experience with ash so couldn’t tell you what it would look like! If it has any cool character or color it’s worth using.

I brought some interesting grain Chestnut Oak pieces to a woodworking friend of mine and he told me they were too hard to work with!

They were from near the bottom of the tree. Ended up using them for firewood.

20 years ago I had acquired 1700 bd. ft. of white oak. The wife wanted an end table and a hall table for the living room. That's pretty much the end of the oak pile and the end of the burl veneer. The color is kind of washed out because of the lighting. She's happy.
