I had picked up a 1842AV a while back and got around to getting it running again. When I got it had rotted out fuel and return lines. Replaced the fuel lines and added a new fuel filter. Cleaned carb fuel passages and now this saws runs good.

When sitting it is leaking a good amount of bar oil. There are no visible signs of damage to the cases. Ideas before I tear into it?

@ray benson , or others I would like a service manual if available.

All I have seen is an ipl. It looks like it was made from the 2003-2007 by MTD.

The saw is in pretty good shape as well, even as the clutch cover in place. In general, the MAC 15 models did not seem to see a lot of hard use, I guess the de-tuned engines and lack of any vibration damping would discourage anyone from running it hours on end.

Years ago Dan Henry sent me a bunch of McCulloch parts .In those 5 gallons buckets was a carb evidently for a Mac 15 .It looked similar to a Tilley HL but with no diaphragm, gravity fed .

I've seen exactly two of them in my life time, mine and a guy by the name of Jim Rigdon who lives about 20 miles from me .

I heard he actually packed up the wife and kids and moved to civilization. LOL

Here's his ( @boda65 ) 105 in action at the GTG he held at his place several years ago. Had quite a rattle that I suggested at the time sounded like the recoil. The guy standing next to me was curious, so... "Well hell, let's have a look and see what it is." (Evidently the finger/dust guard was still in place.)

The chain seemed a little dull and it was cutting through a knot, but still pretty bad ass nonetheless. Was a great GTG with non-stop action. McCulloch was well represented by not only Jim's saws, but the one's you brought as well.

Ole Jim had enough "cookies" piled up to heat the house for a year .I think I must have been given about a half dozen various blowers, weed wackers etc. people had collected and either lost interest or just didn't know how to repair them .One 32" Oregon 10 series bar that had a 50thpu groove and a .404 sprocket nose which I changed to 3/8 " .That one was probably a west coaster .If I'm not mistaken I got everyone of those machines running over the course of several years .

This neck of the woods you just don't see many large displacement Mac saws .However a fair amount of 10 series Macs that usually didn't fetch much on the resale market .On that I'm very surprised on some of the forums they are getting top dollar for things like a 10-10 or a PM 610 .Fact my 10-10's only one I paid for and that was a packaged deal with other saws etc from flea bay that cost me more for shipping than I bid for the entire package and that 10-10 runs like a top . The other 10-10's were given to me . Truth be known I really didn't pay much for the two 125C's or the 105 .

Would anyone happen to have skf/nsk/Timken cross reference numbers for the crank bearings (66016) on the sp125 saws? Looks like I'm doing a full rebuild on one and can't track any nos ones. I think it should be the 6203 C3 but I'm not 100 percent on that.

Funny part about that GTG was the surprised looks when I fired up my 6-10 .I've yet to figure that one because all I did was advance the timing by way of the points ignition and use a 10-10 gutted muffler with a curvature on the bottom .Although the carb is parts from two or three but it certainly did run like a scalded ape .That one BTW is a shelf queen dang near blowed my ears out .

On the bearing I have the master interchange book for seals but not for bearings .How ever some place on those bearing should be a number .You might find it surprising but one of my 125's the bearings were made in Japan .

I participated in the Cedar Valley Engine Club show this weekend. I was invited by a member I met at the Iowa GTG last spring, Ron Olson. I took mostly McCulloch saws, the club has a few saws on permanent display (hanging) Ron brought mostly Homelite and the Mono.

6203s work just fine and are the same dimensions of the original bearings. I use Nachi bearings in my 125 builds, although in a few, I've used SNR if I can find SNR for a reasonable price. Chicago Rawhide has seals that work perfectly that are currently available.

As far as bearing cross references I've never seen any .The catalogs I have from Bearings Inc .give the sizes etc, design ,sealed or not sealed etc but no cross reference numbers .The only references I've ever seen with sizes etc. are for older models of Stihl .It seems on later models they preferred to keep that info like it is top secret or something .

They've always listed seal and bearing dimensions in their IPL's and still do. The exception would typically be a common bearing type, but they then indicate what it is -- 6202, 6203, etc.

'Bout the only ones out there who actually do provide the information.
