I did receive a pair of the Allstar Performance Threaded Nut Inserts yesterday and will give those a try one of these days soon. I think the wallowed out hole in the shroud will be big enough that they will just drop right in or it might take just a little file work to make them fit. I also ordered a Rivnut kit and will try some experiments with those, I am sure they will require some thin washers to allow them to fit properly. I'd like to find some with the recessed centers like electrical bushing knock out washers but that might just be a pipe dream in such a small size.

Rivnut kit Amazon.com: Amjoy Rivet Nut Tool 16'' Long Handles, Labor-Saving Rivnut Tool Set with 8 Mandrels(Metric/SAE), Easy Use Rivet Nut Kit with 80 Rivet Nuts, Durable Riveter Nutsert Tool, Father Gifts for Men Dad : Automotive

By the way, if you want to try the threaded nut inserts get them off Amazon, a set of 10 cost $30, a set of two ordered through Summit cost over $20 with shipping.

I took the liberty of looking at McMaster -Carr for what they call "rivet nuts ".If they would work those are not nearly as costly .What I'm uncertain of is they need a special mandrel to install them which would increase the cost per unit .

Ive seen a few videos of rechromed cylinder builds ,so Ive got 1 or 2 that are smoked but no pistons.
Mac131 just got one back and I'm awaiting a build video from him.

Since it's been mentioned a B size piston is exactly what I need for a 850 project .

In addition to 92519, 87791 can be used with the "B" cylinders. Those were originally supplied in the SP80 models until McCulloch went with the A,B,C routine.

Good information Mark! The original sp81 cylinder that has most of the chrome worn off has the open square port , and the replacement cylinder has the small divider through the middle, I dont know if there's a performance difference?
But as most know I begrudgingly used a LRB piston with oem bearings and pin , although I did have to use an arbor press to install the bearings and pin it makes me nervous that Kevin's blew up with the same set up. I've seriously considered tearing the saw down again (3xs) now that I've acquired this piston.

In my case I just have the parts in a box knowing some day some parts ,when I least expect them to will show up .In this part of the country ,depending on the time of year these old McCullochs show up on Craigs list often inexpensive .Besides that ,one on one, cash in hand speaks very loudly .Flea bay you are dealing with the entire world .

I've seen that spike before. It's been there for some time in numbers.

The welding is very neat. The H&S spikes I've seen have welding that looks almost as ugly as mine

It makes me think it's a reproduction. I really like the look of those and think they add something to the older machines.

Thanks for posting that up.

Bryce Stott had those copies of the H&S dogs made a few years ago. They are very nice but the welding
is Mig welded where the originals were stick welded. I have many originals and some have nice welds
and some not as nice.

Mine would fall into the second category on welding. Sturdy but double bag ugly.

Thanks for the info Lee! I see the 41 sold and 6 left now! Didn’t pay attention to that! I have seen a major variety in the weld Quality on the originals, mine is really close to TIG weld Quality somehow
