To revisit this topic I have a vivid imagination about things . It might be possible on a wallered out hole with a rivet nut to use small "belleville" washers to take up the slop .The spring washers by the way they are made would gain more purchase than a flat washer and at least in theory should provide more holding power .Good vid on a rivnut tool work around. Very simple.
This followed me home today. It's in pretty fair shape! Spent all it's life over on the Oregon coast then made it over to North Idaho where it's been sitting for many years. Decomp switch is busted and of course the check valve in the fuel cap is mush. There's a little bit of oxidation in the fuel tank but not terrible. It turns over and has compression so I'm hopeful. The things I find cool are the intact muffler guard, the sdc carb and intact front bracket. Will yank the muffler off tomorrow and have a good look inside. Looking forward to bringing this back to life. Been very busy with fire season hitting hard and early here in north Idaho in July. Haven't been able to touch a single saw until the last day.

I thought it looked different, looking at it I thought it looked a litter bigger. Until now I didn't know mcculloch made an extended cover.

Very interesting, I may ask my parts guy about it. He has a bunch of old catalogs and bulletins from working in a mcculloch shop back in the day. He spent many years cutting over near your neck of the woods. Going to have him get ahold of his old saw partner to see if the guy has a good bar he'd like to sell. Need a good bar for this thing!

So this is another 1010 Super I picked up today.
But this one is different.
It was my grandfather's. Dad let me bring it home. Its been sitting under a bed in the back bedroom of my grandparents house since the late 90s.
No spark.
Tank looks good. Fuel line is still soft. Air filter even looks good, just dirty.
Compression feels a little low, but it was run dry before being stored. Might come back a little once it gets fuel back in it.
That thing cut a lot of firewood between him and our cousins, who shared the saw.
Thats the one that got me started.
Grew up listening to that sound.

Best home defense to have under the bed! Intruders really start to question decisions when they hear a McCulloch fire up during a robbery! So this is another 1010 Super I picked up today.

I dont do a lot of vidyas. Kinda technically slow. Might do a phone vid of it bucking a little pine ive taken down. Gotta sort out why its not firing and wrap a little Teflon tape around the fuel line at the tank bulkhead first. That's a nice one, Mr B.- are you gonna put a video of Grandpa's saw getting it?
LOL! Thanks for the offer.Best home defense to have under the bed! Intruders really start to question decisions when they hear a McCulloch fire up during a robbery!
Seriously though, I replace broken coil leads with accel copper core racing wire but any 7mm solid core ignition wire will work .
I see now its your kill switch wire hanging out? I'm pretty sure I've got a spare coil in the shed if you discover you need one.
