Maybe so but on that flea bay stuff I've seen them chum the waters .Toss something out with a high price and never sell it . Stop the sale then put it back on a week later under a different seller name using the same picture .Then again in my case I won't pay much because I know I'm going to have to work on them . Like the two Partners I have two years in the restoration . Other than that I agree because different people have different opinions on the price something might be worth .

Don't lie Al! You won't pay much for the same reason I won't pay much either.

We ain't gonna use them!!! Will just be another project for the buyer in our end of life estate sales! :risas3:

Well it's been said that a man's true worth is the length of time the auction takes . Actually I just enjoy reviving them not what they might be worth .Although I have a thing for McCullochs the actual brand name has nothing to do with it .Fact I have a Mall model 12 that came over on the Mayflower which is all there .It may or may not ever run again but if it does may never touch wood again ,noise maker so to speak .

I finished up on the RH starter rebuild today.I found it helps to have a needle nose vise grip pliers to hold the spring together when ya drop it in the housing. After that it's pretty much a cake walk.I've got another one to do if I can find it,driving me nuts!

There's a lot of people online and just one might say to themselves that they have to have that one particular saw model no matter what! Well repeat thar process over about a million times and fair market value is bound to go up.
I buy my saws pretty cheap most of the time ,but I have been know to have an itch that only a wallet slap can scratch.

BTW I have about 100 in my 105 which is a cherry .Don't believe me check it out----Model Profile: Super Pro 105 (acresinternet.com)
Al you have a nice 105! I think a remember the story on it. I see most 105’s with black wraps. I have never handled a 105 , is it a paint steel wrap or aluminum on the black versions. Al did your 105 come with the 125 style wrap or was it replaced?

That saw as pictured on Mike Acres site I only replaced the recoil .According to the repair tag on it it had sat in a shop in I think Wisconsin for over 20 years .It had the original Mac branded semi chisel chain that had never been filed .I did repaint the muffler guard and the replacement recoil which if memory serves came off of a 250 .Also replaced the fixed jet carb with a fully adjustable one from a 125 . It's a good runner but like so many is a shelf queen .Actually I've been lucky finding cherrys .Like one of the last 10-10's ever made also a queen of the shelf .That one was a freebie from a retired trimmer who like most had removed the brake handle .If I ever stumble upon one it will get replaced . That one btw also had an unfiled Mac chain but it was chisel .

I run across this stuff most times by accident .One example was a Stihl 038 AV with a broken handle which was typical of the aluminum alloy type the early ones used .40 bucks .Cost me another 40 to find an original alloy replacement .That one I added a can of soup to which pepped it up but it sits on the shelf too .

I had so much fun yesterday with the RH start recoil rebuild that I hunted up another recoil to go through. This one got a new nylon bushing & new drum. It'll have a new handle (grip) too. After doing a couple ,they're kinda fun to do.This one was so full of oil & grease that I had to let it sit in very hot water & Dawn dish detergent. It came out nice & clean. The spring is in & the drum is on,I'll finish it up tomorrow.

Here are some pics of the rebuilt RH recoils I did over the past couple days. The one recoil doesn't have the adjuster screw & nut in the pic,but I found a nut & screw & put it in.
I came across an adjuster screw & nut (pin) for a Homelite SEZ & the screw is long enough.I'll just betcha that if I did a little grinding on it,it'd fit & work great. It does fit in the adjuster slot in the housing.

I don't know how this happened,or when it happened, but I keep my house locked when I'm not home,& I had one of my PM6's stolen from my living room.Talk about a bite in the hindquarters! The one that was stolen was the better of the 2 saws. Most likely it's the same SOB that's stolen a few other saws over the past 3 or 4 yrs.I was going to start working on the remaining saw this weekend, but over the course of the last 3 yrs.I lost one of the insulator tubes that goes in the carb (part # 68198).
I just did a little research & found that the PM6 wasn't the only saw that used these tubes.I have a couple mini macs that are complete, but are no good,so time to strip them down for parts.

What in Hell! Ed I'm sorry to hear about a break in. Might be time for one of those door cameras?

With regards to those right hand starts those who came up with that insanity should have their bones dug up and ground into concrete or something .I hate those damned things, humbug .

I feel the same way about most all engineers who designed chainsaws in general. They should be made to work on the crap they designed! As for those RH start recoils, they're really not so bad Al.If you're trying to wind the springs in by hand that's the biggest mistake right there.Use a needle nose vise grip & you're all set - easy peasy. One of my other pet peeves about Mac starters in general is that little pin they used to hold the rope in place. Why not just put the rope in like a normal recoil & hold it in place with a knot?I guess that'd be too easy?

I don't think it was a break-in.My son has "buddies" that need a place to crash when they've had too much to drink.I don't have a problem with that as I don't want to see anyone drive drunk & possibly cause a fatality,or get a DUI,BUT,I don't think that's how ya repay hospitality, that is by stealing from your host.I've had at least a half dozen saws stolen from me over the past 3-4 yrs. When I say they've been stolen I get the "you're senile" type answer - "maybe you misplaced it".I know pretty much what saws I have & where they are.Last yr.I cleaned out my entire garage looking for a particular saw - a Homelite SXL collector's edition, all blue from the early 90's,never found it.There were other saws too.The thing I never understood is why steal a saw that's missing a carb or something else?

The larger RH start saws are not so bad, you lay them over a work bench or a large log, hold the throttle (and choke if necessary) with your left hand and pull with your right. Feels pretty natural after a bit.

The 10 Series RH start saws are a bit more problematic, they are not really heavy enough to stay in place when starting over a log if the compression is good, and it is unnatural to set it on the ground and try to hold it down while pulling with your right hand. I usually end up holding the throttle with my right hand and awkwardly drop starting them with my left hand on the starter.

Today's project was going to be doing parts inventory, but I got sidetracked into tearing apart a Mini Mac 25.The saw was seized when I started, but it's free now. When I got this saw about 4 yrs.ago, the jackass seller just threw it in a box & sent it on it's merry way.No packing materials around it at all.The saw was damaged & I did get my money back, which I think was $10.I took a good look at the carb & saw it had no mixture screws.About the only thing that might be good on the saw is the flywheel, coil,& possibly the condenser. They didn't even have the correct plug in it - CJ8 was in it.I purposely took the saw apart hoping it had the insulator tubes so I could use one on my PM6,but apparently they didn't use them on the MM25.

I take pictures of all my serial numbers and ut codes when I first get a saw , if it is lacking a factory definitive mark I hide one on it.
Pawn shops are popular in the South but owners dont like going to jail for recieving stolen property. As well as recycling centers.
Its hard to argue with a time stamped photo of a serial number.
