Picked these up today. Saw on the left is an sp81 that is complete but not running. Has some very nasty gas still in the tank. Two man mac in the middle is a 5-49 I think. The label is gone and I can't find a model number stamped anywhere. I found the serial number stamped on the front above the transmission. Any thoughts on what you guys think this is? Oh yeah and the saw on the right obviously isn't a mac but its interesting still. Its a Wright B-520 reciprocating saw. According to Mike Acres site its 115cc and made in 1963.

Not sure but from what the pic shows the two man MAC looks like a model 99

My 7-10 spanker is thick ring, I remember vividly because I broke one trying to assemble it not realizing it had locating pins since the earlier 10 Series saws I'd worked on did not utilize the pins.

I picked up a McCulloch 2 man saw today as well, I am pretty sure it is a 7-55 as someone tried to "re-etch" the numbers on the tag.

I think your right, fairly confident now it's a model 99. Has good compression and turns over freely. Gas tank and bar oil reservoir are very nasty! Looks like it has the early style mcculloch carb with glass sediment bowl. Going to pull the muffler tomorrow and have a look inside.

I guess I've never paid attention to what kind of rings a 700 has .I think I have the bones of one that was needled though some place .I would also think at a set of rings could be found someplace that would work .
If I recall that piston was toast but the cylinder could be saved .As it was I used two to make one and tossed the bones in a 5 gallon bucket with a bunch of other Mac parts .Which bucket ?

Speaking of pins ,about 5-6 weeks ago my neighbor screwed up a piston not paying attention .I believe it was a 50 cc Rotax on a little kids snow mobile .I had no idea Rotax made an engine so small .
It's a little sled that has a set of wheels where you can run it in the grass .That 4 year old little girl runs it like a boss with her little helmet ,knee pads and elbow pads .He had to put a throttle stop on that thing so she couldn't go over 15 MPH .Without it could hit over 30 .At any rate he found a piston some place .Iron cylinder .

Wow! That is a great looking mac you scored. Probably the nicest and cleanest i've ever seen! Just recently I saw a special edition 10-10s listed in Missoula, MT which is just a few hours from me over Lolo pass. I was tempted to drive over and get it but....don't think i'm going to do anything craigslist again. It's getting pretty bad nowadays.

I picked up a two man McCulloch saw this week along with a few other interesting pieces. I believe it is a 7-55.

Comparing a few pics on Magnus's place I think that's a 5-49 or maybe a 12-25. I've never laid eyes on either one but the way the case at the back rides up high into the fuel tank makes me believe it's one of the early models.

Nice find for the museum Mark.
