Stihl Hexa file and sawchain

So sorry to ask this bit my attention span is non existent these days, so is this hex file stuff worth a damn or a gimmick?

Nope and until just now I've never seen that word.

I have a feeling it is a gimmick to a certain degree.
Every now and then they have to spark new interest to keep their customers at attention to their products.

Isn't performance, quality and usefulness of ANY unreleased product "speculation" by the hyping potential future consumers?

At this point, speculation is all You can get - because we all know that manufacturer released specs don't mean squat.

Stihl says, they have send out Files to STihl dealers. And one Stihl dealer in a German Forum have wrote that he got Hexa Files from Stihl.
But i have no link yet. I'll post em when i have it.

@Dub11 I think it will be easier for newbies to get good results freehand filing.

All i see in this is easier sharpening, tad slower cuts and a slightly more longevity - than both round and square filing.

i had another Google after I read your poast. Another YouTube vid got thrown up in the results as a few others were, but not any “I have the new hexa file for sale”
The yt vidy, I will say It was unimpressive…. It could be the wood, saw and length of bar or just the chain & depth gauges ..

20” is big for Europeans

The local loggers run 18" hard nose bars on MS661's and MS462's.

A log 20" in diameter is generally considered big, anything bigger is huge.

The guy I purchased my latest PS-7900 from swapped the factory stock 24" B&C for an AM 18" because the 24" was too big.

Guys around here run 20” bars on bout anything.,

Not much need for the 30 + stuff.

The way they cut, a 20 is good up to about a 32” tree, so they roll with it.

I keep a 36” on a saw, but don’t really “need” it..
