I thought I would share the saw chain manuals and catalogs that I have been able to find over the years. If anyone has some they would like to share as well please post them here. Some of these are large in size so I think the only way I will be able to share them is from a Google drive.

If you are not able to access them please let me know because I'm not good at this stuff.

Sabre saw chain manual

Cox 1955 Chipper chain filing instructions

Stihl 1990 Bar and chain

Sharpening Stihl chains

Stihl chain booklet

Carlton 1976 catalog

Oregon chain book 2003

Oregon 1991 Maintenance and safety

Stihl FG2 Instructions

Carlton complete book of chain

I think that one is going to be an issue for most people and I don't know how to reduce its size unfortunately.

Let's hope other people have more of these. I don't know why I find them interesting but I really like looking through them

Here is a direct link to the document, which was scanned by Leon. I hope he won't get angry.

I recommend his YT channel, especially to those for whom the Homelite brand means something.

I should have credited him in the first post because I have gotten so much fantastic information from his site over the years. It's a great source for a lot more of this stuff

To me, it looks like this Stihl document must be older than 1990, or if it is indeed the version from that year, it has not been properly updated, which happens in their other documents. IMHO it must be from before 1984/85.
I can not verify its actual date unfortunately as I never had the physical copy of it. It was scanned and sent to me by someone. I have tried looking around for other versions of it but no dealer I have found has kept the older books.

Its a shame because its the most detailed Stihl chain book I have seen. I'm sure there is versions before and after this, I just have not been able to find them yet. I also don't know when they discontinued Rapid Standard, If i could find that out it would help narrow down the timeline

If this document was also intended for the U.S. market, I would point to the 1981-1984 timeframe. In 1981 they launched Picco there, although this may have been due to the Oregon patent. The earliest date could be 1978. Or it could be 1980 - maybe someone handwrote '9' instead of '8'?
From 1984/85 or so, you can see a change in their other sharpening instructions and the recommended file sizes also changed, such as 5.5 -> 4.8 mm for 3/8.

While the document (and available subsequent versions) may be detailed, then-recommended 10% file protrusion will never give a recommended in the same document 60° cutting angle (of the top plate). And it's a wonder they changed it to 25% so recently.

The Windsor catalog is 115meg. Too large to email or post on forums. Use of an online pdf compression tool reduces the size to about 17 meg - which is manageable. And looks the same. Here are a few more. Oregon in the mid 1970's went to a different bar numbering system that nobody seems to have in pdf.
