Don't have the saw yet.... lol
Might have something different in store for the yellow fleece filter. Might be getting a foam job. [emoji106]

I think the yellow filter would be better for a work saw. Much easier to clean. The pleated one will be faster in timed cuts most likely however.

Had a MS291 once, that came with the yellow fleece filter. The MS241,MS261 and the MS362 came with the black HD2 filter. I think, the yellow is just for homeowner - occasional users, while the HD2 for everyday cutting

My squad has been using them for months on 261s..cheaper and easier to keep clean.

No..not really.

I guess marketing wise that's the way it is.

Everyday cutting on the HD2 means the pleates pack with fines and become a *b-word to clean...but they filter well I suppose.

A second counts..lol.
I’m not racing anyone cutting firewood. Maybe on a 026 the stock flocked filter sucks and mesh ones are better for flow, but that 261 filter looks like it has a lot more surface area.

It's got plenty my friend..they use it on a 391 so I'm pretty sure it flows enough air for a 50cc saw.

Thanks for the heads up on these.

If it loses in a timed cut send it to me for disposal.

I keep a soft bristle brush in my wedge pouch when I'm cutting logs to just brush that filter off when the time comes..works just tits.

Or I use the outerwear with the HD2..they both work.

LOL. I don't really "race" my saws. Just work them. But I will keep you in mind when running these filters. Looking to buy that Outerwears cover now.

@RI Chevy

I ordered 2 covers from www.outerwears.com and also inquired on the possibility of them producing a cover for the round filters found on the 241 through 362.

They agreed and I am sending them a filter as a template.

They already make one that fits those filters..20-1114

Anything we could do to the saws cover and or the air injection system that would help keep the filter free of the fines on the 460?

I hear that adding Frog Skins on the filter covers helps. More air comes in from the sides instead of from the front.

Note: My comments apply to the 440/460/660 saws, etc.. I think the 261/362 saws already stay pretty clean.

The air that is forced in from the front, fan . Could it be diverted out taking the fines with it.
The frog skins and maybe more room around the filter could supply the carb.

If the forced air could be partially diverted with a baffle or wall the fines could go out with most of the air.
The cleaner air could go into the filter box as designed.

A hump or more free area inside the cover around the filter would further reduce the velocity of the forced air letting the fines drop out.

Sounds like i am describing a dang hood scoop!

The 460 filter gets full quick.
