Nice setup you got there. I always wished mine was indoors. Atleast it was in a 3 sided enclosure so it wasn’t too bad during a storm.
Having it inside a building is great
I have a warm workshop 24/7
When I was building the house all the finish work was done in the boiler building I had a planer set up in there
The Red Headed Demon I was married to painted and varnished all the trim, doors, railings, etc in there
Now it’s full of saws

Got out ran errands picking up Alkaline water, groceries, and scavenged some down locust & oak close to the house.

Real dissapointed in this chain I purchased from TS. Less than 20 minutes in this red oak with the MS 261c, and it was spitting dust...done lost the edge!!🤔😬😤😤

Pretty decent day!

Burned brush today. LOTS of brush. We've been waiting for rain as it was too dry to make fire previously. This is tree tops and brush from hurricane Helene damage here in Georgia. I haven't decided yet if I'm going to cut the stem of this blow down oak as it's nearly 5' in diameter. Guess I should put the carb kit in the Stihl 070 and test it out.

I never have worried the slightest about burning green wood in the boiler.
I cut it.
Buck it
Chuck it
Same. I’ve cut and burnt within a few weeks before and it does just fine.

Adding storage solves the issues you just mentioned
I have 1000 gallons
No creosote problems, boiler is always running wide open at peak efficiency
Storage eliminates needing a dump zone
I have 450 gallons of water in my system. I’ve thought about adding some storage but I don’t want to start a fire every few days. Most larger OWB’s are designed to run flat out when needed and idle when they’re up to temp. Mine has zero smoke coming out of the stack a few minutes after the fans shut off and the dampers close.

When it’s above 35f and sunny my house and shop do not call for heat from roughly 10am until about a half hour after the sun goes down. The boiler will fire up every 3-3.5hrs to heat itself back up.

It isn’t domestic hot water
The 1000 gallons storage is used to heat the house when the boiler is off.
On a typical-20 C day my boiler runs wide open for about 6 hours once the wood is gone I shut it off till the next day when I get home from work. At -40 C I have to burn about 10 hrs to bring the storage up to 189 F then it’s good till the next day
All we have to burn here is Spruce.
Standing dead comes off the stump at 17% MC
I have a neighbor that has a setup similar to yours and he loves it and it works great for him. I didn’t want to mess with starting a fire every day so I went this route. The first year I had the boiler I had an insulated 500gal tank plumbed in for more storage to mimic his setup and the stove ran so infrequently that it wouldn’t relight so I sold him the tank and he how has 1,500gal of storage. It lasts him a few days between firings.

Went shopping in the AM, had lunch.

In the early PM carted in some bigger birch & cherry chunks out of my firewood box into the shed for the living room cast iron fireplace as a notable cool down with rain and snow are forecast for next week.

I am amazed at how the bark falls of by itself from the birch pieces, those will go in my shop fireplace or outdoor BBQ.

Now, late PM, I am in my hot shop making some birch & willow kindling and enjoying my first "hot" wine for the season - I can tell I'll be having a lot more of these as it gets colder outside.

Starting a fire takes about ten minutes
I have yet to have it not start.
Even the Red Headed Demon had zero issues starting a fire and stoking it

Tooth pain is horrible. I am headed to the walk-in dentist in the morning.
The best they will do is refer me to the oral surgeon.
That will be a one year wait.

I am not sure why folks are having to restart fires in their boilers. Under ideal conditions I start one fire in the fall and that is it. Of course it is never ideal and I have to restart it once or twice.
