This gear has a million parts 😉 I limited myself to 3 bearings because the wheel was difficult to turn or the cones were too tight. Spectro S7 Sachs
Used to work on bicycles when I was in high school, 76-78. My younger brother found a Sturmey Archer 5 speed coaster brake wheel in a junk pile. Had a shifter on both ends of the axle , we put that hub in a 20 inch wheel!
Was similar to this one, has a lot of gears & bearings!

You can see the tracks from the borer under the bark.

You can often see the "D" shaped holes in the bark.

If the EAB is present you will know it, they kill virtually all of the green ash trees.

It's clean, under the bark, so it's probably not there, i.e. a residential area, I don't know how it is in the forest. One is dry for 15pcs. I'll let you know when I find it 🤠

My max flow filters for ms 460 and 461 finally arrived.
Has anyone any ideas what oil I should use? I rang and auto factors looking for foam filter oil but they had never heard of it.

There is this pest, one tree is completely dry and on every other tree at least one branch is attacked and dry. You need to update the wiki 😉 I will provide photos later

You may be looking at some bad news.
If that’s a White Ash it definitely could be EAB. In green Ash the galleries are usually serpentine, but they make all kinds of weird patterns in White Ash. Are the exit holes D shaped?

It had to be cut down, there is a young tall one bent close to the buildings.
Although I only proposed cutting it by half

Back in about 1939 my Grandmother dug up a Cedar tree in the woods and planted it in the yard near the house. The thing took off and grew. It survived when the house burned in 1961. It became enormous. There were also two Chinese Elms in the front yard on one in the side. They grew to a very large size also. They were not good trees though dropping limbs and debris. When she passed away Dad had all four removed. I was not happy he took the Cedar and the one Elm. He paid a landscape company to plant two 15ft Ash in the front yard. Of course they sold him a bill of goods saying they were EAB resistant. That was hogwash! Both of the trees died but they replaced them. That was 26 years ago and now both of those are also dead. Had he planted something better than Ash there would be two decent trees there.
