Are you using anything on the inside to eliminate contact to the galvanized surface? I like the design.
No, just the roofing panels. I've seen a lot of these around here using the same panels.
With the dry climate here I can use construction scrap 2x4s and not have issues. Tops are redwood so we don't get Fir splinters in our butter 🤪

Other than some minor ground leveling she's finally setup. Did a few test cuts
This new Woodland Mills is ten times the mill my old Hudson Hunter mill ever dreamed to be. Lots of little improvements make for an excellent mill.

I have used a DA sander and a belt sander as well as a 5" disc sander on bars in the past. The disc sander is far too aggressive if you want to preserve any etching. The DA sander works O.K. but takes a lot of time and effort to achieve acceptable results. If you want a highly polished bar, the DA sander working from 80 to 120 to 220 grit does a fine job, but be prepared to spend an hour or two and lots of sanding discs. The belt sander works pretty quickly but you have to be very careful or any etching will be lost.

The HF Surface Preparation tool is a huge timesaver and yet does not seem to be so aggressive that threatens delicate details. I do often use a disc sander on the edges first if there are any significant burrs as the surface prep tool does not knock them down, and the sharp edges can be hard on the scotch brite type drums.

Looking for 200.
Anticipation, anticipation….
Been at it for 13 hours. Really hungry.
That’s awesome!!

I use an InkBird to monitor the temps of my wood boiler. Absolutely love it !! Red and green are supply temps to the house and shop and the orange and blueish are returns temps. This was when I was burning a mix of coal and wood and it was heating up 420gal of water in under 10min.

Taped the leads to the pipes and insulated them. I love this thing. It’ll alert me when the temps go out of range just like when you’re cooking a roast.

I use the 40 grit drums from HF, I can do anywhere from 10 to 20 bars with one drum.

Someone told me about another drum on Amazon that was 1/2 the price of the Bauer drums, but the *s-wordime literally disintegrated when I touched it to the bar. I won't make that mistake again.
