Over the 3 day WE my Brother and I took several Grandkids up, and several others visited while we were there, resulting in a cumulative total (in addition to me and him) of 2 kids and 7 grand kids.

We had a total of 8 spend the night on Sun, and the wood stove was fired up on both Sat and Sun nights as temps went into the 30s following day time temps in the 70s.

We had several future wood splitters in training, and my 5 year old Granddaughter gave us a devilish grin while pretending to drive the ATV with her brother on the back (my Brother is also in the pic).

Worked on a couple of Homelite 330 chainsaws, put a new intake boot in one and put it back together, tried to start it and ...nothing. Tried priming it with same results. I was told saw was okay except for the boot. I already checked the spark and it was okay. I hope it has compression...Homelite 330-2.JPG

Had a few minutes before supper so I went out and checked compression on both saws. Happy to report the shiny one had a little over 80 psi and the other one had around 95 or so...happy because I won't be tearing them down again. Both will be excellent door stops!

On Sat went for a hike on the Appalachian Trail with my Daughter and Grandsons. We started at the Dover Oak (biggest tree on the trail) and went West to a rock outcropping with some views.

Wow. BIG tree Mike! Beautiful country there.
Must be 400 years old or so.

They estimate over 300 years old Jeff, but no one really knows! Lots of historic stuff in the area, also took the kids to see the Quaker Meeting House after the hike.

It was unlocked, and we were able to go inside. I used to go by it often when we biked more, an invigorating ride up and down Quaker Ridge (a three mile up hill climb, but real fun coming down!).

Cleaned cylinder deck on my 94 F250 5.8 block waiting on new valve springs and retainers to come on so I can get them to the machine shop to have my heads put back together. Both head gaskets blown. Coolant leaking between 6&7 , #2 head bolt on passenger side was finger tight when I went to break them loose. Grrrrr wasn’t happy about that. All other bolts by feel were torqued. Right under #2 bolt was a nice carbon trail leading to the lifter valley. Ate #2 lifters up. 35BDC342-A25A-4878-9E11-375AECAAC85E.jpeg 50628993-1527-47FB-8FC9-5B8CB7BE78A4.jpeg B1DD222B-F0C2-4130-BBEC-4F8AFA0075C6.jpeg
Well I figured since it’s down this far already I would go ahead and do the cam I have been wanting to do for a while now. So once all my parts get here I will get it back together...
#4 intake pushrod apparently jumped the lifter at some point( that explains the clacking sound I haven’t been able to figure out for a while.... 9D603F11-9A48-4872-961C-328A2AB9A571.jpeg

Was supposed to mill walnut with @PA Dan. Instead I replaced a power steering rack on a Honda CR-V. It went relatively smooth, only minor hangup was the outer tie rods were rusted to the inners, so I just cut the inners. I tried to save the old outers but it wasn't happening. I eyeballed the alignment and it pulls straight but it really needs to be put on a rack.

Missed a good time buddy! Should have had the crv done weeks ago!
