Went to the farm.
Changed out fuel filters on the tractor.
Listened to a gobbler and hen talking so i decided to take a walk to the pond and thru the woods.
With all the rain the pond and creek are full.
Found a few blowdowns that can be cut up and some pines that the beetles have killed.
A few of the pines are 24"+ sad to see this.

After doing 5 Tax Returns I found a little time late in the afternoon to play with my new Twins and reduce my log pile a bit!

It was cool (30s) and windy this morning, but in the late afternoon it got very pleasant. Was good to take a break and get some fresh air!

I'm planning to mill the large Red Oak log on the left.

Went to a closing on two rental properties this morning and this afternoon moved some firewood with the Bobcat. Still need to stack it under the woodshed but it's in the vicinity. Yesterday I made ham and bean soup and pressure canned 14 quarts of it.

Went to Home Depot and Lowes today to get some things for a house we're remodeling. Mostly normal there. Then we went to Aldi to get a few grocery items. The store was devoid of meat, bread and of course toilet paper. I didn't check for eggs but they did have a good supply of milk. It seems like the "hoarding" is still going on but to a lesser extent. We took inventory and determined that we could go until Christmas with the toilet paper supply we have and we didn't purchase any since the virus scare. This is assuming we don't have any Airbnb guests and as of now, all three of our spaces have zero bookings for the next 6 months. That's going to hurt financially. The biggest question for us is how many of our tenants are going to pay rent? It's really important since about 90% of our income depends on that. We just spent our cash reserves purchasing two new to us properties. Our belt is already pretty snug but we'll winch that sucker down as tight as we need to until this goes away...

Today was burning day. We do a "fuel reduction" burn around our property once per year to get rid of lots of flammable materials that could provide fuel for a wild fire and cause our buildings to go up in smoke. This involves raking pine straw away from the tree trunks, piling brush and felling any dead standing trees. I took down a few woodpecker trees today. I usually like to leave these type of "totem poles" for the birds and other critters but they were in our dog pen and posed a hazard to our two dogs. Took down 4 very dead pines. Some of them broke up before they even hit the ground. That always makes it interesting to have tree parts and pieces raining down from all quadrants.
