Ok. Thanks. The saw actually runs surprisingly well. Very stout for a homeowner saw.
just fix the intake issue you have and use the saw as it is instead spending lots on money one a weaker plattform compared to how the 346 is.
If you want to have 346 power, build one on 346/351/353 plattform, both crankcase&crank is supreme compared to the 340/345/350 plattform.

Cool. Thank you.
Still the only way for to change it out is to pull the jug?
And i would need 2 of those clamps?
Or just 1.

You only need one of those clamps, those clamps are far better then the clamp who come with the partition wall intake set:

It's tricky, I'm not one who would trust my own build if I didnt pull the jug, it just feel better when I know I got the partition wall intake 100%.

Thanks for all the help and insight to all of you!

On edit, I did pull the muffler. The cylinder is as shiny and oily as one could hope for. Not a single mark on it that i could see.
Just a little spooge inside the muffler from the Klotz! Lol

Ok, have a few seconds.

#1, Tor R is generally correct :)

There are a number of ways to take this. you can run it like ya stole it, or you can decide to fix it. what level of fix is up to you. I believe that you have an unstable saw as is... in reality, if I was going to purchase that saw, I wouldn't give more than $50 for it because I know whats involved in rebuilding such an item.

So lets look at saw values for a second. In nice shape, a husky 340/345/350 is probably worth about $200-250. ported / nice plastics etc maybe 300-350 max.

If the saw has an issue that necessitates pulling the jug, the value goes down considerably. a husky 350 with a nice p&c might be worth $75-100 .... 340/345 don't have as nice of jugs, so $50 or so is reasonable for saws that need work/ missing parts. So lets work with those values for a bit.

a 346xp has a nicer jug and a metal (mag) case... a 353 (351 isn't in the USA I don't think) has the same jug as the 350 but a mag case... ...I think

Anyway, if you have a 340/345 that needs its intake partition swapped, in many people's eyes it isn't worth it. Odds are you can pick up a saw that has already had the upgrade for pretty cheap, and use the current saw for parts.

Personally, I think upgrading to the better clamp is a great opportunity to learn something on a saw that is going to eat itself eventually anyway. I can't tell you how many saws I've seen that have scored P&C's and that stupid intake clamp is loose. If you want to keep running it as is, please don't count on that saw functioning for much longer. Using good oil will help the margin of error, but eventually, that air leak will win out.

Another way to look at it is the sooner you do the upgrade, the more likely you are to be able to keep that particular jug indefinitely. If you want more power, now is the time to either upgrade, or consider a different saw (ported 350/ 346xp etc)

Where I disagree a little bit w/ Tor is that the plastic cases hold up pretty well. The downside to the plastic chassis saws is that the mufflers can get hot, fall off, and burn through the plastic. but, this is remedied with adding a simple muffler bracket that is not usually on the 340/345 350 series. I think the plastic is actually lighter, and holds up quite well.

Worst case, replace the chassis, if something goes wrong... you can find used chassis on ebay for $40-50 ... its an hour for me to tear these saws down... not a big deal at all. Nuthin wrong w/ tearing things down and cleaning them once in a while.

hope this helps...

i love my 350 great little saw it isn't a 346 but i don't expect it to be one the only thing that has been done to mine is a top end replacement from 353 base gasket delete and opened the outlet of the muffler.

Mattyo, fyi, the 351 is in the US, I have two of them. They are the same as the 353- 346 except it uses the open port 44 m/m cyl of the 350, both of mine now wear 346 p&cs.

there is only 2 things I dislike with the 350 vs 346 plattform.
1) crank is sloopy (you can slide the bearing right on without any press tolerance unlike 346 crank who has press tolerance)
2) it's not that easy to get a perfect grip between the bearing cup & plastic cage. (Where 346 has a pure mag case and is close to bulletproof, same goes to the seals also)

Yeah, it is more fun to build up one saw who is unormal like 350 converted to 346, but for reliability reasons I would take the 346 plattform anyday.
I still gone build my 350 and use it for as long it last :)

Tor....

On the 350...if you strip out a bearing cap...easy to get new...if you strip out on 346xp....new case half. Muhahaha

Lots of plusses and minuses to both....pretty sure the 350s will last just fine.

I got 2x 372xp case halves I may toss because the bearings are spinning in the case :(

Sure Matt, there is always something to pick on them, we can agree to not agree on 346 vs 350 :)

Sorry to hear about those 372 cases.
