Yes..the fuel line gets a hole in it at the tank. But Richevy issue here is the intake clamp....which needs to be swapped asap. No point in running that saw until that gets swapped. No need to send it to me.....you can do it!

I have worked on 3 stihls. I've done a bunch of 200ts.....and 2x ms290 and a 250.

I was not at all impressed by the 290 or the 250....and would not describe them as ergonomic. The 200 is surprisingly easy to work on.

I will check for kinks on my 350s...but they are fresh rebuilds....I hope I have new lines in them...and I use etoh free gas.

The 290 and 250 are home owner saws and as such are built different than the pro series. I will say this about stihls; I've only had to drill a few bolt holes in Stihl cases, usually the muffler that people let go that were loose. I've had a bunch of huskys that I had to drill and they are usually the engine cover bolt holes. Also the brake band on the 200 series huskys seems to be a weak point. I know why Al said that Stihls have less parts in the right places and I agree. But I like Huskys for their performance.

I already changed my impulse fuel line last year. No way I can resecure the intake boot on mine? I need a new one?

I have no idea what you guys mean about less parts and right places... but whatever.

RI Chevy, do you mean impulse line, or fuel line? .. or both?

RI Chevy, hate to break old news to you but that plastic intake clamp has been the bane of husky's existence for years. The really dumb thing is that the severity of the issue necessitated a recall which husky failed to do. In order to change the clamp you need to pull the jug. There is an updated clamp / mount piece.

Looking forward to it Matt, competition is always fun, and I have a lot of respect for those saws!

When you open up one of the simpler Stihls, I think you will know what Al means.

I have worked on some bigger huskies and to me they are junk parts are more expensive have to take saw half way apart to replace fuel lines and harder to find parts so give me a still any day and you can keep your husky

I've got both and a husky can have the cylinder swapped much faster. Handlebar off and 6-8 bolts and the muffler/top end/intake and carb come off as one. Makes it easy to swap cylinders to experiment if you have a bunch like I do. The stihl carb box is what I don't like. You have to cut them up to fit other carbs.

I agree 100% Mike. A couple top cover screws and you're looking at the jug bolts. Just imagine if all the bolt heads were the same size. Oh wait...that would be a Dolmar

I have to take one screw off of my 026/036 to see all the jug bolts.

It's just the carb box and the boot going through the hole. I understand your point, and I agree with the apparent better build quality. But when you remove the top cover on most huskies, you're looking at a flat deck with only the cylinder sticking up. In a stihl, you're still looking down inside the saw to see the jug. I don't have any preferences in brand. I have 8 or 10 stihls, a few huskies, 2 jonsereds, and a dolmar. I like them all equally, they're just different

On my 026, I just sent an 024 Super down to Dr Al and I didn't have to remove a thing ... so there!!!!

Actually put a small Elastostart handle on the little beast today, cleaned it up a bit, and marveled over Al's carb mods!

The difference between pulling that little high compression animal to get it to start and the modest compression 029/390 I just finished is like night & day difference. I'm embarrassed I put C/R on the 390, I'll never use it! If I knew how easy it would pull, I would have just plugged it.
