So lowering (raising towards the carb) the metering lever will help?

Please explain how this physically works. My understanding is that the diaphragm is pulled up by a lack of fuel in the metering side of the carb and not vacuum. Just wondering what effect it will have and why.

@Terry Syd
I remember he explained it but I can't remember where or the details. I believe a stronger spring, or shims under the spring were how he said to do it.

I'll do that this week and see how she runs next weekend.

I did something different on the ports this time. I want to compare this saw to my 024 with the 044 carb and 26 head before I ship it to Jeff.
My 194 had the same off idle delay. Tad more pressure solved it.

Looking good Al. I should do more build threads but I forget about it until the saw is together and running usually.
I know. Slows me down too. There's a lot of grease marks on my iPad cover as well.

I have a ton more pics on my phone I didn't post. I sent Jeff a pic every step of the way.

I try to stop and take pics. It helps me to remember what I did as well.

It's worth it to make threads everyone can enjoy and learn from. Worth the effort IMHO

You put more spring under the metering lever is how you raise the pop off pressure.

Probably should but I never have been much for build threads.I have a real limited time to build stuff in doesn't help. I really need to start on the Christmas saw. It's still disassembled unless I use the 2065 that's a runner here and put the 2165 together later for me.

I asked Doc if he was going to do a muffler mod. He said yes. I asked if he was going to drill a few more holes in the baffle. He said No. Out comes the muffler with a big hole in the side and a Red97 deflector! Just completely blew me away. Doc went over and above what I thought was going to be done to this saw. He is truly a master craftsman. That is why owning a saw built by him will be an honor and a privilege.

I see some extra work on the upper transfers, you are getting there Al.
;)

Machined flywheel? If so nice. How would a muffler modded 346 compare to this?
No way to know without a direct comparison. A well done 346 should beat this saw in a race. The platform is just better to start with. Huge ports and a big carb for a saw of its displacement.

Beating this saw in the woods in terms of "drivability" and reliability/endurance is another story. I'd put my money on the lowly 026.
