Rebuilding The JMS 064

Shoot, takes me about 1/2 hour to setup and cut squish, then another 15 minutes to cut the base.

There's just no reason for that much runout, none

Randy I know if off on the base one side to the other will rub into one side or the other but how much difference when off on the base front to back would be allowed before it would cause a problem?

I have no idea.....

how did you do that plier set up randy?

Clamped em closed with a pair of vice grips, and drilled em in the drill press.

I figured the wrist pin would take up for some of the base being off front to back but the side to side would be a problem at least in the way Im thinking I guess

Did he actually raise the exhaust after cutting the squishband?

Squish band is .005" out of square with the bore front to back.

Wow!

.015" of taper.

Wow!

.008" out at the edge of the bore.

Wow!

I was concerned about it just having .011" clearance.

So what your saying is make sure you properly level your belt sander in the vise before use?

I was thinking a unicorn cylinder would have timing more like 102 118 80 after being cut .040". What was I thinking?
