Big transfers, why do they work for some and not others? There is a lot that goes into it other than just hogging em out. Direction of flow should start at the lowers and follow that shape and line all the way through tThe tract into the upper. I think that the entire port needs to be reshaped as a funnel which is not easy to do and takes a long time. If done right I believe they can work for some saws and some applications

What's up Dan?

Yup trying to get ready, and work got crazy... but I've officially given myself my "2week" notice. I'm quitting myself. I received an amazing job offer from a guy that has been asking me to work for him for almost 3 years now. So I've got to finish the jobs I've got going, and then fold up...
I'm hoping for less stress, and more time for saws!!!

Now about them transfers...

I'm hoping everything works out great Dan. Wish I could make the GTG.

I thought working at home would be wonderful, till I woke up one morning and realized I was at work.

I think we grind out a lot of engineered goodness the factory gave us in the name of flow. The first thing we all have done is open the hell out of the lowers. I think the best flow will be when the duct is even sized the whole way through.

I believe the transfer design in the 346/357/372 and stihl 361 and the new echos are just about optimized. then they come out with the stratos and change the whole game.
The jonsered 80,90 , 910 and 930 super are the grandfather of that design, they must've learned something going to bottom fed over bore fed in the 920 going back to bottom fed in the 930's. image.jpegimage.png920 on left 930 on right....you can convert the 20's to the 30 style with a die grinder or end mill. @Spike60 and @afleetcommand have a great video on the history of the 900 series jonsereds.

See how the direction of flow aimed at the intake starts at the lowers. That pic says a lot
Excellent example of what we're talking about. I never thought to start "aiming" the charge in the lowers. Brings up my next thought. Since most, not all of the flow is concentrated on the outside of the port I think shaving the inner bridge material down some would aid in reducing turbulence in the turn. How much is too much with reference to maintaining velocity? I don't know, but in my worthless opinion I think there are gains that can be found. To me, the more the path can be smoothed out the better. As long as velocity remains adequate.
