My chain game isn’t very strong in finding older info. I have a few loops of Oregon 52 and was hoping to find the right repair links to break and spin some shorter loops. Anyone know by chance if you can use the newer .404 kits or the number for the old one I would need?

Good question. Have 404 Oregon in two types of presets. 16H and another came with a hoard I sorted. I can check those. One does fit newer oregon 404 chains like LGX.
My 3/8" stuff is a nightmare with five manufacturers, maybe six plus chassis types

That would be sweet. I have some that works in the 59L but have no clue if it’s right.

20200204_134749.jpg I have three manufacturers of 404 here
Stihl
Oregon
Other harvester chains
A few odd links like the Sabre cutter and the 7/16th chipper cutter

Two types of Oregon
No type 52 I can find
This one has 51 stamped on the driver

Just have one preset for the H chain in other brand....box/spool is somewhere. Found it. Took a pic

The other chain must be LGX....it looks real close to RS sitting next to it. Has 16 on the driver. Some came from Jules. Oddly the harvester bulk chain will not ride in a fresh reground 0.063 bar. Fits the others just fine.

What measurements do you seek?

I have dial calipers handy.

20200204_134739.jpg made at different times but measured about the same. The blue tied cutters above are older 3/8. Had to dig them out to find the chain peices

Awesome! The 51 is the same as the 52 but .058 chain. See if any of the spare straps or links look like they would fit? That’s ultimately what I need to get so if I break sort my 52 I have something to put it together.

After some measurements...
The RS and 51 are just slightly different on top of the chassis.
The H chain has much bigger bearing pins.

I messed up there last post.

Those right and left chipper cutters are old 3/8 Sabre and peice of Windsor 3/8

I did find about 250dls of H skip and some presets :) Tough stuff!

My chain game is ok. Have hundreds of Stihl presets and cutters from 1/4 - 404

Those old chipper choppers are for fixin gtg loops. Right and left cutters. Look how H stacks up next to RS.

You might also call Madsens and see if they have any lying around.
