Ok guys , I Googled the serial number I posted and looked at Leon's website . I come up with a zillion different pages of parts . Is there a definitive model number I can search for that will lead me to compatible parts ?
This is Leon's link to parts manuals .
I can't even begin to count them.

Not sure if there is a difference between the Homelite EZ and Super EZ (AO or AOW), but if there isn't then you should be able to use this IPL:

https://www.leonschainsawpartsandre...tomatic_chainsaw_ipl_24522-a_revision_2_2.pdf

If there is a difference then you will need to find the EZ IPL and you can get part numbers from there.

I made up a flywheel puller from some old stock I had lying around and it worked perfectly . 3 sharp raps after snugging the screws and it popped right off . As you can see the ends of the stock need to be rounded off to fit properly within the fins but it's very easy with a bench grinder . Here are the dimensions if anyone wants to make one .

Here's where we're at after the 1st cleaning .
I'm afraid this may just end up sitting in a box for the rest of its life ☹️.
-Piont cover is cracked .
-Point cover gasket is irreparable.
-Side plate that holds the bar & chain tension is cracked . I assume this is magnesium and also irreparable 👎.

Is it just the point cover has a crack (but not failed)? If so, you might be able to use JB Weld and work what you can in the crack, let it set and then sand it down, it will keep air and moisture out. I have been using JB Weld on my McCulloch saws to fill pits that I Dremmel out mag rot and also fill scratches and cracks. Sometimes if it is possible that a crack will continue, you can drill a small hole at the end of the crack and then fill it with JB Weld, the drilled hole should stop the crack from continuing.

New point cover gaskets can be made, there are several ways to do it like making an impression and cutting it out by hand with scissors and X-acto blades, Cricut Machines or Laser cutters. I have made gaskets for several of my older saws that I could not find or they were outrageously expensive! Are you talking about #40 below?

Take a pic of the crack on the side plate, someone here might have an idea on how to fix it depending on how bad it is.

I can't thank you guys enough for the help but now my roadblock is not being able to find the IPL .
The only thing I have to go on is the serial # stamped into the build tag and that leads me nowhere .
I am seeing about 40 different IPLs' on Leons website and all have model numbers .
How can I find my saws' model using just the serial number ?
I sent Leon an email Last Thursday but haven't received a reply .
I want to move foreword but I'm stuck .

Thank you , yes it is just the cover that's cracked and the gasket is pretty much destroyed .
I'm pretty confident that I could either JB Weld or silicone that but there are other parts I'll need .
-Head gasket which I assume is also the reed cage to case gasket .
Crankshaft seals ( no #s' on these ).
-Reed cage to carb gasket.
Etc

I’ve cobbled too many together in this series (XL1AO, Super Mini, XL1 etc.) to remember all the mixing and matching that goes on. Truth is, they can be made to run well, even with semi-roasted top ends and parts from a half-dozen beaten donors. That one should have the 1 1/2” piston with single Dykes ring. Earlier ones. Just keep looking for folks tossing carcasses and add them to your stockpile. Mini muscle through and through.

I’d post some vids of mine in the series, but nothing can beat this. Never gets old.

Thanks alot guys , I found an entire saw that was an exact match for $50.00 .
I also found a good , correct case cover for $74.00 😳.
I see the head / Reed cage gasket I need .
Also found a point cover for 8 bucks .

This slug is in great shape as is the jug .
Just some staning from what I assume is / was cheap oil.

Yes, I believe that is the manual for your saw.

Is this it?

I have seen a couple of these on eBay running about $25.00 with shipping.
That's the one !
Is that the same parts manual that I linked to above ? Just want to be sure I'm looking at the right one . The clutch in the one I posted looks different than the one on my saw but the rest looks the same.

Yes it is, as @Hoggwood stated, these saws can be cobbled together from other Homelite versions, it's possible since your clutch looks different it might have been replaced at some time with another clutch from a different Homelite.

Be careful buying a parts saw, later you may end up wanting to rebuild it too :D

I know from experience!

I think I'm pretty good at spinning wrenches and everyone pizzes & moans about how difficult McCullough saws are to work on but honestly , if another one of these darkens my door , I'm going to pass . I'll work on a McCullough any day compared to one of these.
