Thanks Jeremy, but I saw your comment on that in another thread to another person, so that was one of the first things I checked, it is fine.

Mopar, you are correct, so if it is not the base gasket seal or the carb, I do have a new coil to try, thanks.

I'll find it by the process of elimination and keep everyone posted, just very busy now so time is limited.

A spark test takes all of 2 minutes, just rip off a ground strap from a spark plug and have at the pull chord, the other tests you are considering take somewhat longer as you need to seal the muffler and carb prior to pressure or vacuum testing

I know you say "its fine" but I'm leading that is the problem. The best way to know if pull the flywheel off and check. Just moving it back and forth doesn't mean it fine. Leaks will cause the motor to run lean. It will run but to lean. I wouldn't worry about pressure testing until you get it running. When you poured fuel down the plug hole or into the carb it should have popped. If the timing is off, it will produce spark too soon or too late causing the engine not to pop due to lack of compression.

Yep
I sat a freshly rebuilt minty 034 on the shelf once because of that very same reason.
Ran for 30 seconds and quit.
Flywheel seemed "fine".
Wasn't spinning on the crank and I could see the key that appeared to be still intact.

That saw sat for 4 months because I couldn't figure it out.

Came home one Friday with a good buzz and some ambition. Took 5 min, pulled the flywheel and the key came out in 2 pcs.
Put a new key in it, started and ran on 2nd pull.

I pulled the nut and it is still properly aligned with the crank grove, don't know what else to say. Could be a bad coil. My 044#2 would pop, but would not run. The coil was bad. No time to look at it today anyway, only reason I'm posting now is my 4:00 is late!

If I was a betting man, I'd bet the coil or lead wire is bad.

@MustangMike I'm pretty sure you've already done this but did you check the flywheel magnets? Both magnets feel good and strong?

HELP!!!!!!

Keep in mind this is my first time doing this. I removed the 046-D cylinder today, and it was not stuck down like I thought it should be, and when I started to wipe the slight excess gasket maker from the edges, the stuff still stuck to my fingers! Hey, I did this over two months ago, shouldn't this stuff be dry by now???

(Reminder: I used Permatex Anaerobic Gasket Maker #51817. I comes in a little Blue bottle and is Reddish in color).

Will regular silicon high temp gasket maker work???

I want it to work this time!!!!

The aneorobic only seals/sets up in the absence of air...so that on the edges should be soft .....[emoji2]

Regular sealant won't work , if you don't like the aneorobic, motoseal, dirko, three bond yamabond,Honda bond is your next choice.....[emoji2]

What Randy said.

Wherever the cylinder flange was in contact with the case, it should be semi-hardened - almost candy like in appearance and feel.
However, any portion of the sealant that was exposed to air (the excess that got pressed out), will still be as like the day you applied it.

If this is not the case, than I would be using 51813 like I mentioned earlier.
