Have said "performance gains" really been proven to be the norm with stock kits?

The 661 Cross Performance kit was right on the ass of a 661 I ported for a customer. I've not done a direct comparison on the 066 kit yet.

I thought I remember reading somewhere that Stihl recommends mixing 25:1 if you are not using their oil.
I this true?

Oils are significantly better these days

Stihl has a fuel stabilizer put into their oil by the manufacturer and it really does help with the ethanol.

I'm not fond of the exhaust port shape. But I think it will be ok. We sent it back to be reshaped, and it is better than it was....

I think if it's close and takes little work to get the port shape that's desired. It's still better than grinding for hours to get the same results.

Yeah,
2 of my saws has one of those stickers on them so I have to mix special gas for just those 2 rather than running the normal 36:1. [emoji41][emoji41]

I was looking at the kit yesterday. I'd rather use the OEM pin and clips.

I'm sure, with few exceptions, you could say that about the whole piston. But if what is provided is lower cost and works, well then I guess it serves the purpose.

I just wish that the plating went to the top of the bore. Looks like they copied the plating of the machined cylinder. I was hoping to play with it a little on the lathe, but if the base gets cut much, the top ring ain't going to be too happy
