Not sure if it is even worth spending that much money on a used ( albeit in great condition) Husky 345.
Hence my dilemma of even spending money and time replacing the clamp.
If you get it ported by someone renowned with the 100$ oem 346 topend, then it'll hold its value probably. Either way ported or not I think you'll only increase its value with the 346 topend. Besides you won't want to sell it :)....

I have run a few 346s. They are nice saws. But aren't they magnesium cased?
345 is plastic.

The saws just don't seem to hold much value Matt.
Tough to put any money into them. Other than your time.
How much is a good running clamshell 345e worth? Piston and cylinder are perfect. All original. Even has the plastic clamp. LOL

ultimately, who cares about the resale value...unless you plan on reselling it.

if you spend $500 on a saw, any saw, and spend $300 on a mastermind port job (or whatever it is) .... do you think you'll get your full $800 back? probably not. so, its not ALL about resale value. its a good guide for when working with a saw though. even if you put $300 into the saw... is there any saw on the market that will be able to touch it for performance. NO. so.... it might be worth it to spend the $$ and money. AND, you'll have a boat anchor soon if that clamp doesn't get replaced anyway. ... lots of stuff to consider, but I don't think that the plastic case is a functional downside. resale, maybe. functionally, no.

I hear you Matt. That is why my 345 has sat unused for over 2 years since I found out about the plastic clamp issue. The 345 is bone stock. All Husky original.
I got me some ported stuff I use now. Lol
If someone makes me a great offer, I would unload the Hooskie 345. Lol
Just don't want to put money into a homeowner saw that may not be worth it.

If it were me, I'd tear it apart and use a Stihl clamp on it. Best of both worlds, and you'd probably run it more .

Imo, the metal replacement clamp normally used is kinda hinky anyway. The screw-type clamps leave me feeling warmer and fuzzier than either of the other 2
