Well, the LORD continues to smile on me. The other day I went to a Husky - Stihl dealer I had never been to before, behind the parts counter was this pretty young blond gal (didn't look a day over 20) who instantly found everything I asked for, I was amazed.
I then asked if they had any junk saws to sell, she said ''like what'', I said husky's, 350, 353, 346, 372, she says, no 372 but I've got a 350 & a 359, wanna look at em? Yup says I.
She goes out back and brings in 2 pretty dirty saws sans bar & chain, She says we sold the starter off the 350, I'll give you that one but I gotta get $50 for the 359, both saws have scored cyls,
A closer look shows two very nice saws under the grime, the 350 is an 05 mfg. & the 359 is 02, I asked if the coil were still in them, ''yup'', so the least I have is 2 unlimited coils, oh yeah, I take em.
I tore down the 359, I can save the cyl. so only needs a piston & a steel clamp for the intake boot. The 350 had been rebuilt by someone who shouldn't have, using an aftermarket cyl. & piston. The base gasket had no cutout for the impulse port so that was covered up, they also slathered it with rubber gasket maker which covered about a third of the intake ports.
I don't see how this ran long enough to score the exhaust side of the piston with no alum whatsoever on the cyl. The plastic clamp intake boot came off very easly so that's probably what fried it. Oh well, got a new oem 346 p&c just waiting for a donor body.
