That Fiocchi is quality stuff, I would rather have it than most domestic ammo. Especially their .32/7.65 and .380 Auto. I bought some Winchester .223 FMJ for $11.00/20 and CCI 9mm FMJ for $16.00/50 yesterday. Not ideal but I can live with those prices, considering that reloading stuff is still alot harder to come by.

The only thing that seems to be unobtanium is primers.
Everything else is available but the selection is limited.

I've been using the Berry's .356 hollow base 124 grain FP in 9mm for years with perfect success, however these are hard to find right now and I'm out of them. I did find the .357 125 grain version though. Sorry for the dumb question, but these should work just fine in 9mm? I have shot bunches of .357 and .358 lead slugs through my pistols with good success. My usual load with the .356 Berry's slugs is 3.8 grains Titegroup at 1.055 OAL. This is the pic from the Berry's site, looks almost identical to the .356 version:

That's actually a good question.
It's also one that I don't think can be answered, with any certainty, by anyone other than the bullet manufacturer.
There's obviously going to be a pressure increase from the use of a larger diameter bullet but how much and if it will create an unsafe situation, isn't a question that's easily answered, without access to pressure measuring equipment.

The consensus on Cast Boolits is that if they will fit the chamber they should work just fine. My loads are already on the mild side, and I have used hard lead slugs up to .359 with good success. Most plated bullet manufacturers suggest using lead bullet load data of the same weight. If these don't work in 9mm for whatever reason they should do well in my Marlin .357 carbine. Midway had them at pre-covid prices so I went ahead and ordered 1k.

That's exactly the same load I use in .38 spec brass. It shoots exceptionally well, in everything I've tried it in.

Still have not put this weapon on the bench rest to sight it in LOL, Maybe next time out just for *s-words and giggles.

I had a real cherry 1970's Marlin 1895 for awhile and ended up selling it to a collector who gave me a very nice profit on it. Since then, the lack of a .45-70 has been a yawning chasm in my arsenal. I think the next one I want is a single shot. A brass frame Henry is my first choice, but I found a very nice late model NEF Handi Rifle on GB so I am bidding on it. Still have dies, brass, molds etc. for this cartridge so I really hope I win it.

I hope that single shot weighs about two cinder blocks worth, busting off a .45-70. Lol

I shot a many different caliber NEF, H&R single shots back in the 70's/80's.

They are all steel and wood so they have a bit of weight to them, I'll probably put a better recoil pad on also. I only shoot Springfield Trapdoor level loads in the .45-70, 405 grain slug at 1200 fps. I already have an NEF muzzleloader and .410 shotgun and like them alot. I really hope that somebody brings back the NEF/H&R single shot line, they are great guns.

Here's what I'm currently shooting in 45-70. A 9.5lb Winchester 1885 High Wall.
With 300gr bullets it's a pussy cat. With 405's at 1200fps, it'll get your attention.

Those Marlin 1895's are sweet guns. My BIL has The cowboy model. I lust after it!

That is a really sweet rifle! My 1895 had two problems. First of all it had honest 95% or better finish and I hunt from treestands and in the brush, so that wasn't going to last long if I actually used the thing like it was supposed to be. Second, it had the first version of Micro Groove which didn't shoot lead bullets very well and lead is all I use for the .45-70. As much as I loved that rifle it just wasn't meeting my actual needs. An 1885 or Ruger no. 1 or 3 is my ideal gun in this cartridge, however I would have to save for a pretty long time to make that happen. If I don't win the Handi Rifle, I'll probably get the brass frame Henry.

Winchester commemoratives (mine's a 125th anniversary) are odd ducks. This one has an engraved receiver and silly gold filled lettering on the barrel. It sat in my local dealers gun rack, pre owned and unfired, for about a year. People would look at it and after seeing that it was a commemorative, hand it back. He couldn't give it away. I ended up buying it for less than half of retail. Most Winchester commemoratives haven't held their value worth a damn but as shooters, they can be a bargain.

It's hilarious how many commemoratives Winchester made over the years, to the point that a regular one nearly always brings more money.

The NEF .45-70 is up to $376.00 with a day and a half to go. If I got it for that price plus shipping and transfer it costs about the same as a new blued Henry single shot. So, right now I'm leaning towards letting someone else have it.

Yep. It seemed like Winchester was bringing out a commemorative, based on the 94 lever action, every week. There were a lot of guys who collected those and lost a lot of money.

You're spot on concerning the NEF in 45-70.
