If you ever pour your own, give the Lee 358-125-RF a try. Very accurate with any load under the sun and I've pushed 'em pretty fast in my .357 carbines. The Lee 358-158-RF is the same but heavier with a really big flat nose for more damage factor and the bevel base will take a gas check no problem.

Still eating off this bull from couple seasons back. About 60 lbs of canned meat left. Taken with a 350 grain .410 swift A-frame:

Super nice, love those husky rifles. My son hunts with a late husqvarna in 308 deluxe model. And you can't pry my husqvarna 9.3x62 from my hands, hands down the best rifle I've ever owned.
A 243 in one sounds like fun, good deer round.

Good day funky sawman. I had necked up a bunch of 9.3x62 brass to take .410 bullets. JES reboring rebored the rifle. It was originally in 30-06.

Went this route as making brass was much easier than the .400 whelen.

Sounds like a real fun thumper. Exactly what you need for those Alaskan brownies and moose. I use to be into big bore rifled alot, I'm talking 416 ruger, 458 lott, 460 wby and .500 A-square, but have sold them all after my shoulder injury. The 9.3 with a 286 at 2400 is plenty of recoil for me now, and plenty of power for our smallish bears and elk of idaho.
Have you heard of Kodiak bonded bullets? They used to make custom. 458 bullets for me years ago, not sure if they are around in AK anymore.

My appologies on the late reply, I use an sp101 in 357 mag as my only hand gun. 158grain fmj over a smidgen of unique powder. Doesn't even damage a little red squirrel. Then 180 grain swift a-frames for protection against bears and grumpy winter moose.

Yes sir, I have heard of Kodiak bullets. I think the owner passed away a few years back. I too have a 416 ruger. Weighs only 7 lbs 6 oz, the recoil is insane with full power 400 grain fodder. Can only handle 3 rounds off hand, then my muscles around my shoulder start involuntarily quivering, then accuracy degrades.
Glad you won't subject your shoulder to that madness.

I have found that the little 358 wincester kills massive rut-raged bull moose just as good as a 9.3x62 mauser, with much less recoil. Might be a great round for u to try. 250 grain @ 2400 fps.

That's exactly what my wife shoots, a custom Remington 700 LSS in 358 win. Using a 225 grain woodleigh RN at 2450. It's a hammer on whitetails.
It was that .500 A-square that did it for me, it was a rebored ruger #1 458 Lott tropical. Shooting a 600 grain at 2600 fps was just plain stupid in a 10lb firearm. It's didn't break anything, but did tear my shoulder muscle, and a slight concussion for several weeks. That cured me from ever owning another big bore.

I really like the .358, it seems like a great round that should have been alot more popular. The .308 itself is a great round, I have it in a Browning BLR and Savage Axis. Feed 'em 180 grain slugs over 37 grains IMR 4895, which is actually a well proven .300 Savage load.

New gun today. Colt Python. It’s the new production. The double action pull is almost unbelievable. It uses transfer bar ignition is the only difference I see from the original. But fellows (and ladies) , it is a beautiful revolver. I’m real proud to own it.
I edited it , it is a one piece barrel with a recessed target crown. I like it even more.
I think I’ll be checking out the Colt King Cobra Target .22 as well as soon as I get over paying for this one. I used to own a S&W 617 that I enjoyed shooting but the barrel was too heavy for me at 6”. I’ll bet the 4.25”KCT will be just right.

I used to have a 8" Original in Nickle that I had a Gunsmith cut & crown to 5".
I killed several deer with it out to 60 yards or so, open sights (1 shot & never missed one).
It was frigging sweet.
Wish I still had it.

I sold mine also, wish I hadn’t. Guy offered $2,000 for it, young, dumb and needed the money. Also owned a Colt trooper and couldn’t sell that fast enough.

I'm thinking of trying to find one just for whitetail here in Pa ..seems most of the reviews are really good and I love my lever actions.

No experience but, I heard they are owned by Ruger, so I bet it is good. I read that somewhere. Let us know if you get it.

Beautiful!! I’ve been considering something like this for bear hunting. Much easier to carry on the mountain where a lot of the time you need two hands to stay upright.
