I ordered a carb for a MS 460 from Huztl, and it came marked ZAMA, so I ordered another and it was not marked ZAMA and was not the same quality. Never did put the second one on a saw, so can't say if it worked or not. The first on is on 044 #2 and ran fine.
The Zama branded carbs I've used have been very good quality. The last 2 without the brand not so good -- failures on both.

It's almost like they're trying to hook 1st time buyers

I think they just source things from different producers based on demand, and maybe they buy overstock & close outs and resell. The problem is the lack of consistency.

I can find no rhyme and no reason as to what goes on, for the most part other than decompression valves, (rarely get a good one) seems like I hit the jackpot compared to other experiences. Never had a branded carburetor yet but all are working(some needed dickering with) All the cylinders I've been getting are wonderful and for now my preferred choice. How long can my luck hold is what I'm wondering? There's more to this story I'm sure, is quite the curiosity to all this stuff...

Not sure what's going on with the castings from ft. I saw a ft jug on AS that had a k over an s on it. Didn't think KS had made cylinders for awhile. Seems a bit deceiving
those are an active attempt to deceive buyers it is NOT the KS logo but a modified $ sign that looks similar
Koblen Schmidt still makes Stihl cylinders along with Mahle and Gillardoni

very odd every part i have ever gotten from Farmertec/Huztl has a part number and says made in China even if the box says something else

I did not buy through Huztl, bought through ArborTec, in fact a bunch of smalls were in the box with the cylinder.

Any opinions on farmertech pistons?

Personally I like them, I have one in my 272xp and beat the snot out of it, have had good luck with them and Hyway having the right pin to deck height. Not that that is always a bad thing, sometimes a little mix and match gets your squish set in the low .020"s with the right thickness of base gasket. There again gaskets are all different thicknesses, I try to have at least a few different ones to get the squish band height where I like it. Usually I can win when all the chaos comes together just right.

Is it safe to conclude that examples like the Gilardoni posted by Bill and the Tecomec posted by Steve are not legit? Simply "marked" as in Bill's description?
