I have used a crap load of the coils on various saws. Never found one to fail yet. (But there may be exceptions).
Usually the spark plug wire is too long. I've shortened so many of them now --its fairly easy and simple.
I've had three of eight fail with in a year. These were from two years ago. One purchased early 2015 when I was building 52mm 372's, lasted until this fall then crapped. So I just quit using them. Also I've got a pile of used OEM 385's to part out so just put those on my saws as the AM ones quit. Thats been my experience. A statistical thing. Maybe its a source change as well...all that stuff is a moving target. The ones that have lasted came through Forester/Ahlborns. The ones that crapped came from Farmertec, & Wangluo or something like that. Haven't tried one recently.

Fun with Farmertec 361 #2 was short lived. Stopped sudden like coming out of a long buried bar cut.[emoji15]

Nut (flanged, thank you) came loose. I had blipped four times with 1/2" impact.

End of crank looks soft to be rolled up like that.

New Rule:
Blue Locktite for flywheel nuts from now on!

Coil poles look fine. Just a minor scrape.

Crank and flywheel cleaned up OK with a Swiss pattern file.

I plan to make a tapered key starting at 3mm square x 5/16" long. Use as much of the keyway as possible.

I'd Be tempted to use valve lapping compound between the crank and flywheel to ensure your taper is a perfect fit, might bind better next time as you shouldn't need a key to keep a proper taper fit in place. Chances are they weren't just matched up properly from factory

No 3mm square keys at Ace so we improvised.

Original key left and a 3x7x5 woodruff key right.

Filed down to remove the 'belly' and tapered a touch to better fit the keyway.

External Star lock washer under the nut and blue Locktite.

Check ride tomorrow after the Locktite cures good.

The carbs that come with the Farmertec 361 are junk![emoji35]

Only way I can start it from cold is to bottle feed it six or more times.

We changed the metering lever spring from the get go.

Don't seem to pump fuel at cranking speed.

Adapt Walbro HD from Farm Boss type or what??

Stumpy did a thread on this on AS. I followed what he did without fail. Pretty straight forward swap. 029/039 carbs are everywhere because most people scrapped them when their dealer told them the saw wasn't worth rebuilding

My wallet is starting to smell like rice now......Hey these things rice burners? Hey don't yell at me. Totally gonna look into the 660 kit. Not sure on shipping but the kit is $186.00 even, I can get OEM parts new from the shop for cheap. :applaudit: Don't tell my boss's what I'm gonna try and do....I'll never hear the end of it. lol
