Looking into buying a 2511T. I am wondering about switching from 3/8lp to 1/4". I have seen it done by other just not part numbers for the clutch drum and bar. Not sure if you have to mod a Stihl bar to make it work or not. I have been looking into panther bars as well they make a direct fit bar. https://www.chainsawbars.co.uk/prod...mini-echo-cs-2511-tes-1-4-043-72-drive-links/
Also have some questions on bar length as to what some would recommend 10-14".

Any other info that could be shared would be great.

Have also read a muffler mod is helpful to them and pull the limiter caps. Not sure on a timing advance.

On the muffler is it a cat muffler? I would assume to remove the guts of the cat and either enlarge the existing outlet or add another.

I’ve got several of these saws, we use them in my tree service. Love em. Muff mod, timing advance, they run good. I just did a switch to 1/4”. On one of them. I’ll see if I can find the part numbers. It bolted right on with no modifications needed. 12” bar. I just gutted the muff and enlarged the outlet keeping the spark arrestor screen intact as I’m in California.

They run great with a muffler mod and carb tune. The muffler is a cat, all you need to do is remove the cat and enlarge the exhaust outlet

Thanks for the replys.

A556001710 Echo part # for 1/4" spur sprocket.

Do any of you have any thoughts on which is better the oregon 25AP or stihl 71pm.

To remove the cat in the muffler does the muffler have to be split in half and brazed back together?

The bar is # 124MLEA074
The chain is # 90PX045G
I got this info from a guy on Treebuzz

Both of those part numbers are for 3/8lp .043 gauge.

I split the muffler, cut the cat out, then welded it back together. I wasn't able to get pics, sorry

Oregon doesn't make .043 1/4, I prefer Stihl 1/4 .043 ultra tiny chain over huge .050 oregon. 14" bar using the Stihl chain, and it may be hit and miss with the cat in the muffler, but drill a hole below the stock outlet in the obvious spot, and that bypasses the cat. I'd use 12" if using 3/8 .050 or even 1/4 .050, just my preference due to weight. I think the Stihl bar needs a little modding. Just make sure there's a path from the tensioner holes to the groove. You might need to drill your own tensioner holes if the bar only has one set.

That link I put up to the sawsagain place, that’s the set up I bought. From them. And it oils fine with no drilling. And for the muffler I was able to work from the intake and exhaust sides with a metal burr bit and hog it out without splitting or welding

Have heard the 2511t does not come with a dawg/bumper spike from the factory. Echo offers it optional. Here is the part # for mounting screws and the spike.

V805000240
BOLT, TORX 5×12 QTY 2

I have that on mine. More to make it look like a saw should.

Is that Stihl or something else? I wouldn't mind trying 1/4 just for giggles.
