It’s like when I go out on fires, but no smoke and fire

Thank you for your service. Hopefully the trend that I am seeing up here continues down your way. Some hotels are offering free rooms to truckers and front line workers that don’t want to put their families at risk.

Thanks Gary. Good to hear

I’m gone 12 24’s a month and this way I visit from the yard and dwindle the “Honey Do list” with stuff on hand

We’ve had a dry winter down here until 2 weeks ago and it’s been rainy and cool out. Go Figure

During this thing I've been spending a lot of time trying to figure this mess out on the net .Gather info ,I'm a mechanic not a medical person but not stupid either .Come to find out this is not a living organism .What it is is protein,RNA with an outer coating limpet, fat .Once it hits the mucus membrane it mutes and multiplies .If not it desolves in a couple of hours all by itself .Soap, alcohol ,heat melts the the fat layer, the armor and it's done .Now it makes sense .
That being said I've spent hours trying to find mesh with a small enough micron cloth to make DIY masks because they are next to impossible to find .A lady I know in Iowa came up with it .HEPA filter bags used for vacuum bags .So if the gov can't do it you have to take the bull by the horns .Won't be the first time won't be the last-----this is not political just a fact .Before you get to squawking read it again .

Now these masks .The news is abuzz from people making DIY masks all over the country .You can get on You Tube and find them .The profiteers on flea bay are trying to pedal 2 masks for upwards of $100 .
I came up with a half-fast method using several layers of the commercial sized coffee filters .So it seems to a consorted effort from about every where which is good .
I've studied the history of pandemics from a historical perspective and take it very seriously .What they all have in common is none were taken seriously at the onset .Yet when they did and followed things like isolation and cleanliness they all but disappeared . As will this one in time but we all need to be heedful of how it spreads and take measures to prevent it .I could be a wise guy and say stop eating bats but that would be in poor taste .

IIRC the recommended homemade mask material now is 70%cotton poly blend. Aka the stuff the nice t-shirts are made from, since unless you're doing something like a CPAP or actually installing a vent tube the virus containing droplets are large enough to be caught in the cloth.

Not cool. My wife went back to work yesterday after 3 weeks off yesterday (she's a critical care RN at the local hospital). She's a bit paranoid but aware so that's good. She's basically removing outer layers of clothing outside and disinfecting before entering the house. I've had pneumonia before so not sure if that makes me high risk or not.

From the news reports in the UK and Ireland, things are starting to look grim in parts of the USA. NY City is struggling. There were over 500 deaths in the UK over the past 24 hours and the bulk of those were in London. I have been working from home for 10 days and I'm glad of that as I normally commute by train. One of my cousins and his wife are recovering from the virus. He is a non-emergency ambulance driver and his wife is a nurse. It is scary just what this virus takes out of fit, healthy and active people. Just look at the eyes of the people they interview who have come through it. We switched to British Summer time last weekend so I have been able to use an hour or so in the evenings to split next Winter's wood. Sincerely; fellow forumers, stay well. Better than that, stay well away from other people!!

A close family friend raises beautiful heritage Berkshire hogs and butchers them himself, I purchased some goods from him and the sausage is simply divine!
