I very rarely go into the woods without a 346 the handling is hard to beat.
@skippy the 357 is considered a 60cc saw.
I handled a 261 at a gtg it was smooth as butter running a 325.It was a little to slow for my liking though.

Thought the same thing when I bought my 261. It was a little slow. Randy woke it up big time. Now one of my favorites. Obviously somewhat bigger and bulkier then a 346 but that doesn't bother me at all. It always goes with me no matter what I'm cutting.

I like the 346xp ne. I painted a clutch cover for her. yesterdayView attachment 37498
What is the difference, if any between the Husky 353 and the 346 XP? It would seem that they are almost identical. Anybody know?

I always toss a coin between my 026 PRO and the Husky 353 when heading out the door for a firewood cut. I usually drag along a bigger saw in case the trunk is sizable, but one of these two saws handles 90% of the work.

Dont forget those classic Huskies 154/254's.
Their AV isnt supreme as 346 and 550, a tad more heavier, but they're very strong, and last almost forever.
In their time they was the most sold firewood saw in Norway by a huge margin compared to 242 and 262.

They are a very simple and easy to work on design too.

My 154se has the smaller combustion chamber and without the base gasket, the piston hits the cylinder... so I am able to set the squish to .020.

The muffler is super easy to mod too. It comes apart into several pieces. Remove the internal baffle, take the deflector off and open up the hole and replace the deflector.

Lots of compression. Lots of torque.

I haven't seen anyone mention the CS2253. I was looking at one a while back, looked like a nice saw.

Anyone have any run time on one?

353 & 346 are the same saw except for the piston & cyl., as is the 351 which has another different engine.
The 350 comes with either the 44m/m engine of the 351 or the 45m/m engine of the 353 but with a dished piston top in the latter. Both of the 346 engines 45cc or 50cc put out more power than the others.

Very interesting. My only complaint about the 353 is that it runs lean on startup for awhile, so I have to warm it up 15 seconds or so. Carb has plastic limiters preventing a low-speed adjustment.

Great saw other than that and I can live with the delay. The fuel economy of the 353 is truly spectacular.

I have 5 saws in that family and non have those limiters anymore, if you pull the carb off, a fingernail clippers will take care of them and maybe a little clean up with a sharp blade.
I'll move on the limiter removal. The high-speed setting is OK. I figure the only thing it needs is a 1/4 turn opening of the low-speed setscrew. The limiter blocks it. These things are disgusting.
