If everybody mastered carb tuning and chain sharpening, the parts and repair industries would be in serious trouble.
I hear neighbors around me now and then, and you can hear their saws just screaming in the cut from dull chains. Makes me cringe.

Yeah it's down right painful, some of the chains I get a stupid dull beyond belief.
Last old saw I bought came with a couple of chains. At a glance they looked like they had a lot of meat left on them. Turns out they were both safety chains and looked like only thing done with them was try real hard to cut rocks.

Am I ever gonna get any royalties for starting the 543 love ? I tried to tell people they were good little units after being ported. Too bad the fuel and oil caps suck and the air filter leaves a little to be desired.
Royalties? No. Props/thanks? Yes! I love my XS543XP, just wish the XPG would have been available over here or locatable globally. Snagged mine when Bruce had them on sale for $400 NIB. Yours outcutting an MS241 wasn’t a fluke, or 1 off. Raced my XS543 against my XS241 last year at Adam’s GTG using same bar a chain 2 cuts each saw. 543 was a full second faster both times. You can fix the filter pretty easily with just silicone, but I’d love a foam option.
