The 2-series carbs have the linkages on the opposite side from 3series, so it’s a little complicated to reroute the throttle, choke and kill switch.

That would be an issue.... definitely need to dig through the carb pile and check things. Or weld on a round spigot and use a boot.

Almost need to pour a big crucible of molten steel in there to save all that welding effort.

Layers don't work well in this application. They always loosen, and wear at different rates. Then they will start to wiggle and make bad parts/break dies. This is a mid size press at 2500tons. Same reason just bolting in a block dosent work once they settle in the bolts start to break or rip threads out.

most folks cannot fathom what it’s like to be near a machine like that when it’s running. Idk if that machine has any sort of suspension under it, but the big (greater than 2500 tons) machines at the tool and die shop my dad worked at did, and you could still feel them thumping a quarter mile up the road.

These have a bit of a pad. And the press by design is more of a quick "squeeze" but you can still feel them when they hit.

The big drop hammers.... those are plain nasty.

The vibes just help to settle the weld lol

Ah running smaller multi process parts through it are they?

yeah the bigger ones were all completely isolated from the rest of the building so they didn’t shake it down to the ground around you lol.

They normally use 2-3 hits per part.
First cycle is shape the billet to fit the die.
Second cycle is pre form the part .
Third cycle is finished part.

I see. I think I remember my dad calling that a progressive die. Idk much about it though he was the machine shop wizard in the family.

Hey Brother Joe@red97; Did you ever make a list of parts for your hybrid cs590/670? I would like to get everything together. Thanks

670 cylinder, base spacer, intake spacer, exhaust spacer, custom muffler, 268xp piston, ktm 50 wristpin bearing stihl 440 Is the same size I believe.

Lots of fitting and trimming.

Stihl 440/460 is an easier build. Just need the bearing and to trim what hits. Can fill the case cutouts with jb weld.

I love watching those massive presses form metal to different shapes and sizes.

I’ve seen a 1,000 ton Bliss knuckle press that shakes the floor with each punch.

Then there’s the giant presses in automotive plants, several 1,000 tons in a row stamping parts as it passed along. These have a deep basement with isolators under the presses.

I'm not following, are we still building a cs590 using stihl parts? Or building a Stihl? Thanks. Ps no new carb or coil?

I looked up the cs670/680 cylinder and it's 50mm, is that correct? What I liked about the hybrid is it still looks stock?

This guy has a nice series building one using the stihl cylinder. To keep stock looking you just have to trim the fins.

To use the echo jug you need to build a custom muffler.

On the stihl jug the stock muffler will work.
