huge thank you to @srcarr52 for the excel help
Teaser #1

Ignore the dip, didn't have any data, pretty safe bet to connect the dots. Same thing on the high end of the yellow, if I had the data out to 14k it would not drop as quick

Who wins?

Don't complain about the graphs, this was my 3rd pull.

Is that little bit on the top end enough to win? or do 3 swipes off the rakers take the lead?

Since these builds are already documented...

Ill let you decide who is who

These are the types of things possible with the dyno runs. Seeing these things on the graph is something I know I passed off as the wood/chin variables.

Depends on who is using it and the setup! A ham hands would love the red curve and the perfect setup could make the yellow curve faster. And with a long bar the red curve would probably be better.
On a side note it seemed like most of the saws we’re making peak power lower than cutting rpm.
Not theses builds thou

Pardon my late night spitballing please!
I may be too broke to play, but I'm still curious about the dyno.

Any theory on what's causing the dips?
Is it a software thing?
Hose getting a resonance or something?
If so, could that cause cavitation and a drop out of pressure?
Are the wires shaking? Does funny things sometimes.
Ignition wire too close to signal wires?
How about sensors. What things might interfere with them.
Anything gotten magnetized and could that manage to affect a wire or sensor?

The giant dip is from me loading too fast. Have a pretty good feel for the valve now.

I need to keep playing with settings. Once the other software gets here, it will help make even better graps/data.

Honestly I feel these graphs are pretty smooth for a low hp 2 stroke.

Out of curiosity what is the cutting rpm for both those saws? Are they cutting above 12k?

If your worksaw is holding above 12k in the cut with a 28” bar in hardwood you need to file your chain. A saw with the meat of the peak power at 9500-11k in the cut loaded (with a good chain!), with smooth torque lugging down to 7-8000rpm is a real nice worker. Not 12-13k screaming self feeding with no torque or a build with all torque and no speed. You want balance. Some over port the saw for working and kill the torque curve. The type of saw you screw around with the chain constantly to keep it cutting at peak performance. But hey others have different opinions and that’s cool. I just do what works for me and what I’m doing. I’m not racing race saws in 8x8 cant.

IMO, power in the cut clearly goes to the bottom fed. Great job and information.
