I think I have most everything figured out, other than the software/graphs.

It is stihl the same data from the box, so a video can be used to make the graph if needed.

The plan is to use this rather expensive tool for my saw business.

I will be selling "dyno" service to anyone who is interested.

Price structure
You send me the saw, tell me what rpm to set it max, I'll dial in the low/idle

60$ + return shipping price
You get 3 pulls, with a video recording of the data. Printout/graph/chart if everything else works out.

Or 50$ per hour for testing trial/error muffler mods, timing advance, carbs, even swapping cylinders etc.

Whatever the results are are between me and the customer. If you as a customer decide to share the findings, that is your choice.

I don't feel it is my place to share the results that someone else paid for.

I do plan to keep copies of the data, so it won't get mixed up.

I would love nothing more than to sit here and test saws till the sun goes down.

But can't do so without compensation, sooner or later the dyno is going to need parts/service etc.

I have to find/draft up a liability release form.

Just in case anything happens to the saw during a run.

Figure I might as well post the pricing structure/format for all to see.

I am glad everyone is enjoying following along.

I will still throw out some bones for ya to gnaw on. lol

I would love nothing more than to get an 8-9hp 70cc worksaw to smoke my builds. Light a fire to make mine even stronger.

If guys want to pool resources/saws and do a community testing, aim sure something like that could be arranged.

I would love to host some type of build off someday.

Plan to host a dyno day sometime this summer. May see lots of interesting numbers then.
Oh thanks! You turn’t me into a bone chewer... lol Joe the bone sharing Dyno Dog !

I'll make a very very good deal if someone wants to send stock saws...
There you have it folks.

I think a collection of baseline numbers is going to be very helpful. Besides, if you send something out for base numbers you might as well have Joe make your saw stronger for you while it's there!

Excellent.
Base numbers will show the dogs in the pack who lack.
Joe needs local guys to donate stock saw numbers, real stock saws, some dyno gas money and bring him your saws to get this done easily. Weak rings and used older saw or logger beaters will shed some light on who needs what and why. Something as simple as a muffler mod, maybe a mismatched port wall or even a faulty coil or retarded ignition time will show when he nails down a twenty saw baseline per model. Maybe less.

Money well spent if you don't have that screamer you know the next guy has ;-)
Your going to see how repeatable a builders work can be with a water break running the load.

I need to catch up tonight... way behind

If I only had a stock saw:(:D

In all seriousness though this is awesome stuff, and I fully intend to send a few saws up for some dyno flogging. Just gotta decide which ones to send first.

Keep up the good work Joe, I've been hoping and waitin for someone to do this for years. You the Man.

I know it’s a lot of work and time isn’t free!
Baseline numbers will be awesome! I am super curious to what some of the vintage saws put out, in reality, 056 mag, 2100, homie 750, sp125, 090, p60-62, dolmar 166 poulan 8200, and the 82cc macs.
Pretty much any vintage muscle saw! Lol

Yessir, that is part of the reason I ordered the 404 dyno sprocket some of the old homies only ran spurs, or the old 6 spline which is hard to get 3/8 If it was even made.

But … But … But … I don't have any "stock" saws!!! In fact, I only have one that does not have any port work … my 10 mm 044 does not have any port work, but does have BGD, timing advance, etc.

Could always see how much that gains over a stock saw...

Whoa. No shipping required. I have a brand new 5105 waiting to get ported someday. Have to get it checked before and after.

This is exactly what I had in mind ^^^

Get a baseline, get the saw ported then run an after test. Then you can share the results with the builder.

Win win for everyone involved.

If someone sends multiple saws, or is a frequent flyer I can work on some pricing.

As soon as I can get up your way or if anyone goes between you and Hillsdale or Battle Creek (after the 18th) the 2171 and whatever else I may have around that's stock will have a date with your bench. The 034 Super would be an interesting one too.

. . .

I got stock saws.
Only my XS5000 & MMWS6100 are ported, I have a stock muffler for my otherwise stock PS-7300 & PS-7900, I would purchase a stock SLR muffler for my PS-7310.

Sadly shipping a dozen saws over the pond and back is not feasible. :(

I hope someone can/will supply stock and ported Dolmar/Makita saws for testing - and share the pull results. :)

I have a stock 6410. And a 7910 top end. Maybe it will get a turn on the dyno.

Figured shipping would be the biggest hurdle with all of this.

Yea, shipping and or travel … your about 10 hours from me, and I like to run MY mix in my saws!

Maybe sometime in the future you and your wonderful machine will be at a GTG in PA.

I have saws from 50 to 90 cc that I would love to test, and the 90 cc one is all Asian!
