I didnt pull a stopwatch, but looked like 14 seconds for the 6100 and 15 seconds for the 262xp. Not a bad showing for a 30 year old saw. Question is, is that 6100 ported to, or running stock? If it's stock- that's impressive as hell to beat a ported 262.

The 262 was and is a force to be reckoned with. I love the snarl and throttle response. It's also very light and handles well. For a lot of bucking though, I'll take my 562 that hasn't been to @awol yet...
That 262 has a 108* exhaust roof. For a 262 worksaw, I don't think you sacrifice much in rpm with the low exhaust roof.

It's a torquey lil sombeech. The oiler is better on a 262 than a Stihl 036, that's where it's got it beat.

That 262 will oil and pull a 28" bar all day long.

The 262 is the only husky I really like. Good durable simple design.

Fixed it for you bud. If you like the 262 you will love a 268/272 and a 281/288.

I wouldn't use a 60cc for much more than 18" personally...

Me either but with the 6100 I don't reach for the bigger saw as soon. Or if for whatever reason the bigger saw is unavailable you still have enough saw. Especially when it comes to falling.V__9ACC.jpg

About as far as I care to go with 60cc,Pin Oak.

I thought the 6100 was a pooch stock but it gains a lot ported.
It and a 262 are both on the heavy side,a 044 isn't much heavier.
6100 is very smooth and as a good filter setup.
All of them cut wood nicely with a sharp chain.

Outboard clutch and the front chain adjuster is my knock on a 262 and a 6100 is homely.

Had to put a new slack adjuster in my 262 yesterday, reminded me of your last two points. Haven't had any fsll out of the 6100's. Happened with both 262's.

For many years I only had a 660 and used it for everything, obviously you don't need a saw that big but I'd way rather have more saw than not enough.

Lots of 60cc saws will handle a 24+ but a bigger saw will make it more enjoyable for you and the saw, especially falling you want more saw than less.

I've said it before that any professional faller regardless of tree size will be running the biggest saw he can get for a reason.

Got to using a 394/5 much and you need to buy stock in the company your buying the adjuster from.

The point is it wasn't a chore. Four cuts on the notch ,GOL plunge from both side(btw I no longer use the gol plunge) and blow it out the back. My stock 262's give up once you bury the tip,I'd have been whittling at that thing all day. Not good.
